Leeds got an important point against Fulham in midweek, but the joy might not last long as they visit Hillsborough. Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to bounce back from defeat at Burton.

The Owls have understandably become distracted by the Fernando Forestieri nonsense which engulfed the last 7 days. The playmaker refused to play for Sheffield Wednesday amid rumours of his future, but has apologised to the fans this week. The owner says they won’t be selling the former Watford man who has seen offers from Derby and Newcastle rebuffed by the club.
All of that has taken its toll on Ricardo Carvalhal as his side went down 3-1 to newly promoted Burton in midweek. The Pirelli is a tough place to go and they won’t be the first big side to be downed on that ground, but it’s important they bounce back here.
Hillsborough has been a fortress in recent weeks and months for the club and roared on by a huge home crowd, they should be confident of getting something in this Yorkshire derby. What reception Forestieri receives remains to be seen!
Wednesday have problems at the back ahead of this game though. Tom Lees has been mightily impressive this season but picked up a knock against Norwich and missed the midweek match. Glen Loovens is still sidelined and Jose Semedo, who was deployed as an emergency centre half suffered the same fate when he hobbled off at half time. Sam Hutchinson is fit and raring to go, but there appears to be no partner for him.
Tom Clarke is one player rumoured to be in talks with Sheffield Wednesday and the Preston defender would be a good addition if they can get the deal over the line.
Going forward they have plenty of options and will not be short of firepower.
Leeds
Garry Monk picked up his side’s first point of the season at home to Fulham in midweek. They did go behind though and it needed a last minute equaliser from the often maligned Chris Wood to level proceedings.
There are still major concerns and the side looks a little disjointed. But, Liam Cooper and Kyle Bartley look stronger at the back and the incoming Liam Bridcutt will be able to provide a defensive shield.
They have added central defender Pontus Jansson from Torino on a season long loan and it adds even more competition at the back. It’s Leed’s 10th summer signing.
Perhaps it’s a case of players in the incorrect positions and they need to find the ideal spot for new signing Kemar Roofe who has only shown what he can do in flashes so far.
Many Leeds fans can see what Monk is trying to do and the ideas he’s putting across, but they are worried that erratic chairman Massimo Cellino will not give the former Swansea man time if results don’t pick up soon.
Luke Murphy and Toumani Diagouraga have already been told they can leave the club by Monk. The latter hasn’t been in West Yorkshire for long since arriving from Brentford.

Sheffield Wednesday were extremely hard to beat last season and it’s hard to see that form dropping off. It was disappointing in midweek, but they’ve never been as effective away and they had centre half problems and reshuffles throughout the match. I think they’ll bounce back here.
