Both Teams to Score Tips 14th Jan

Fulham v Barnsley

We begin in the Championship with in-form Fulham taking on Barnsley. Both of these sides have been very entertaining to watch and the Cottagers saw off Cardiff in the FA Cup last weekend (2-1). Slavisa Jokanovic has been linked with the Werder Bremen job in the Bundesliga, but his concentration remains in West London for now. They lost 2-1 here to Brighton here last time out, but should have won that game. They had plenty of chances and missed a penalty before two quick fire goals for the Cottagers took all three points. They’ve netted in each of their last eight games here and in nine of their last ten and should be able to find a way past Barnsley. They’ve scored against the sides sat second and third in the league and have put 5 past 3rd placed Reading and 4th placed Huddersfield this season. Barnsley have hit 8 goals in their last 4 away matches although did fail to net against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday despite having the best of the first half. They’ve only failed to score three times away from home this season whilst Fulham have kept just two clean sheets in 12 matches at Craven Cottage.

Charlton v Millwall

Charlton have improved under Karl Robinson and netted four times in their last home match against Bristol Rovers. They’ve added Jake Forster-Caskey and Nathan Byrne to their side this week and that should give them even more creativity in midfield. Josh Magennis appears to be finally finding form under the new boss and they should be a real threat against the Lions. They’ve netted in five of their last six home matches at the Valley and in each of their last four League One games including a 3-1 defeat at the Den. Millwall beat Bournemouth in the FA Cup at the weekend keeping a rare clean sheet in the process but away from home they haven’t kept a side out all season. The Lions haven’t been the best defensively, but are re-discovering their attacking fluidity it seems. They’ve scored 7 in their last 5 away games only failed to net against two of the top three – Bolton and Scunthorpe.

Bury v Peterborough

Bury almost snatched a point last weekend at Scunthorpe. It would have been unlikely, but the Shakers are scoring again and are creating chances. Chris Brass has got the side believing again and they’ve scored four times in the last three games despite all of those games being against sides inside the top four. It doesn’t get much easier as Peterborough visit Gigg Lane and both teams have scored in each of the last four matches here. Posh had been defensively solid when beating Northampton and Charlton, but have recently conceded to relegation threatened Chesterfield and Coventry. Peterborough beat Bury 3-1 when these sides met earlier in the season with the Shakers racing into a 3rd minute lead. It should be another cracker.

Crawley v Hartlepool

These two sides are in the bottom half of League Two, but Crawley’s recent home form has helped them to rise until 15th in the table. Hartlepool were dropping like a stone and Craig Hignett was under pressure, but a 3-2 win against Morecambe and a 2-2 at Accrington has helped stem the tide. The Monkey Hangers have kept just two clean sheets on the road all season and have conceded at least two goals in six of their last seven matches on the road. Crawley have been scoring goals lately at home including a recent 3-2 win over Grimsby and a 3-1 victory over Newport. Both teams have scored in four of the last five games at the Broadfield Stadium and that should continue here.
