Manchester City vs Stoke City Predictions
Manchester City stuttered midweek away at relegation threatened Newcastle United. They took the lead thanks to Sergio Aguero, but took their foot off the pedal and allowed the Magpies back into the game. They came away with a point, but will be looking to take all three here to consolidate their Champions League place.
Vincent Kompany came through the game unscathed and is expected to line up again alongside Eliaquim Mangala. Raheem Sterling also made his return from injury, coming off the substitutes bench and could start in place of Jesus Navas. Samir Nasri is doubtful and David Silva, Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy might not be risked with the Champions League semi-final coming up on Tuesday night.
Stoke were hammered at home to title challengers Tottenham Hotspur. The 4-0 defeat means they've only won one of their last six and have conceded ten goals in their last three games. They sit in ninth position, but any hopes of a Europa League spot next year are fading away.
Mark Hughes will be without Erik Pieters who is serving the last of his two match ban, and they have a few injury problems to contend with. Jack Butland and Jonathan Walters are out and there are doubts over Glen Johnson and Xherdan Shaqiri. Marc Wilson is unlikely to be ready for this one either as he continues his recovery from his knee ligament injury.
Stoke took the three points when these two met earlier in the season with an impressive 2-0 win at the Britannia Stadium. They were excellent that day and the Blues couldn't cope with Bojan and Marko Arnautovic in particular. The Potters have a decent record against City too, winning two and drawing one of the last five meetings between the sides. There are a few who are tipping Stoke to win this one, with City's focus on the Real Madrid game a few days later but I'm not one of them…Manuel Pellegrini's men need to win this or they could find themselves out of the Top 4 by the end of the weekend. I'm expecting a home win, and I think it's worth taking the 23/20 Bet Victor are offering for City to win to nil. City have only conceded three goals in their last seven league matches and Stoke are among the lowest goal scorers in the league having mustered only 37 so far this season. I'm going for him to break the deadlock again in this one, and with Kun is fantastic form at the moment he's definitely worth a shout for a first goalscorer bet.
