Accumulator Tips this Weekend
Norwich v Man City – Man City to win
We start this weekend’s accumulator bet in the FA Cup third round. These two Premier League clubs have very different objectives this term but would both like to end their season at Wembley in May. That being said I am sure that they will both play weakened sides but for me the Man City side will be a lot stronger than the Norwich side. The Canaries are just about holding their own back in the top flight and have been on a good recent run winning three of their last four matches. Man City on the other hand have been poor away from home until last week’s win at Watford and manager Manuel Pellegrini will expect his team to build on that. You never know with cup football but looking at the two squads Man City should have just about enough to gain the victory and secure themselves a place in Round Four.
Oldham v Millwall – Millwall to win
Oldham are currently on the worst run at home without a victory in their history. This currently stands at 11 matches and has seen them slide down the table to fall into the relegation zone. They have won just one league match in nine and unless they can turn things round quickly they will be playing League Two football for the first time since 1963. They come up against a Millwall side who are still in with a chance of an immediate return to Championship football. The Lions haven't been on great form themselves recently but did destroy fellow promotion hopefuls Southend 4-0 on their last away trip. Millwall are also the second highest scorers away from home in the league and visit the side with the worst overall home record. This all points to Millwall taking the victory.
Accrington v Notts County – Accrington to win
We continue this weekend football accumulator tip in League Two. After last season’s battle to avoid the drop Accrington started this campaign as relegation favourites. However manager John Coleman has built a very competitive squad that are sitting in the play-offs and in serious contention for promotion. Stanley took time to settle in to their new home stadium "The Crown Ground" but have lost just twice on their own patch all season. Notts County had a complete overall of their squad in the summer and that has shown with the inconsistency of their results. They can give any team a good game on their day but also lose too many matches as well. They also have just a single away victory all season and all this points to Accrington gaining another three points and strengthening their place in the top seven.
Crawley v Cambridge – Cambridge to win
Cambridge were well fancied to have a good campaign at the start of the season but despite some interesting summer signings the squad struggled for find any form. This cost then manager Richard Money his job and United replaced him with Shaun Derry who has seen the club move up the table. They have won five out of their last seven and are now just three points outside of the play-offs. They come up against a Crawley side who I would say are over achieving this term. Since last season’s relegation the club has had financial issues off the field and were fancied by many to suffer back to back relegations. They have kept themselves clear of the drop zone so far but they will want to improve on a run of five defeats in seven or risk being dragged into danger. I can't see that change in fortune coming this weekend and I expect Cambridge to claim the victory.
Boreham Wood v Cheltenham – Cheltenham to win
We finish this week’s footy bet in the National League. Cheltenham are having a fantastic campaign since being relegated from League Two last season. They currently sit top of the table by four points and are unbeaten in fourteen league matches. Experienced manager Gary Johnson has seen his side lose just twice all season in 27 matches and if they can keep that form up they have a real chance of gaining promotion. They come up against a Boreham Wood side who are trying to survive relegation from the National League. They find themselves just a single point and a single place above the drop zone and may struggle to contain Cheltenham’s fire power. Borham Wood have just one win in their last seven fixtures and another defeat here should see Cheltenham tighten their grip of top spot and bring home our winning footy accumulator.
