Euro 2016 Betting Predictions: Name the Finalists

Euro 2016 predictions for who will qualify for the European Championships final in Paris on Sunday July 10th. This is a great chance to have a big odds Euro 2016 bet.

Who will reach the final of Euro 2016? A tough question, with many teams capable of going all the way, we’ll look at the favourites and assess their chances.

France

Firstly, we’ll take a look at France. The hosts are favourites to reach the final with odds of 13/8 and are now favourites to lift the trophy in the latest Euro 2016 odds. The last time a major tournament was held in France, the hosts won, back in 1998 when the French lifted the World Cup. They have a pretty easy group to be fair, their Euro 2016 Group A games see them against Switzerland, Albania and Romani, see our France vs Romania Super Page for all the France v Romania build-up. I’d expect France to do well of course, but, if they get there, they could face the toughest of Semi-Finals in the form of Germany.  The current World Cup holders will be hard to beat, and I think the semis are the furthest the hosts will reach.

Germany

Talking of Germany, they’re the second favourites to lift the trophy and it’s easy to see why they’re at the top end of the betting odds for Euro 2016. They might be in a slightly tougher group than their French counterparts, up against Poland, Ukraine and Northern Ireland, but it’s still a Group they should top comfortably. They finished top of their qualifying group, but since then their form has been patchy, losing three of their last five friendlies. Still, they boast the most valuable squad of any team in the Euro’s, and they’ve reached at least the Semi-Finals of every tournament under Joachim Low. At odds of 2/1, they’re my first Euro 2016 tip to reach the final.

England

Let’s talk about England. Before previous tournaments, there’s always been a wave of optimism surrounding England fans but that seems to be lacking heading into this one. My partner thinks that England are going to win it easily (she’s very patriotic…) but I don’t share her optimism. England are odds on to top Euro 2016 Group B, and while I think England will get through the group, I think the best Roy Hodgson and his men can expect is a quarter final place. England have never got past the quarter final stage since Euro 96 and I think that record will continue. Still, if you’re like my missus, you can get odds of 9/2 for England to get to the final.

Spain

Next up, Spain. They’ve won the last two European Championships but had a very poor 2014 World Cup. I can’t imagine Spain failing to turn up at two major tournaments, and they’ll feel they have something to prove. They’re in Group D alongside Turkey, Czech Republic and Croatia, reasonably tough games but still a group Spain should qualify from easily. They are a side in transition, but they do tend to get stronger as competitions progress and it would be folly to rule them out of winning a third European Champions in a row. To reach the final, you can get odds of 5/2.

Belgium

Many people’s outside tip to win this competition are Belgium. They have endured somewhat of an injury crisis, particularly at the back, but with players like Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard they possess two of Europe’s most talented attacking players. They’re also the best Fifa-ranked side in the competition, but they’re in a pretty tough group, Group E sees them facing Italy, Sweden and Republic of Ireland, but if they progress through that then who’ll knows? It depends on how Marc Wilmots prepares his side, if they can get the best out of their attacking players then they stand a chance but if they try and contain sides and play a more defensive game I think they’ll struggle. Still, you may find the odds of 5/1 for Belgium to reach the final somewhat appealing.

Italy

Finally, let’s take a look at Italy. In the same group as Belgium, it’s a toughie to get out of but if they do there’s no reason why they can’t go all the way. Italy are a tournament team; they manage to grind out results. They may not have a host of star names like they have had in the past, and there’s a couple of high profile exclusions from their squad of 23 but still I think they’ll do well. At odds of 7/1 they are definitely worth a shout to reach the final.

Who will be in the Euro 2016 Final?

For me, though, the Euro 2016 final will see Germany take on Spain. The best odds for Germany to reach the final are 2/1 with SkyBet, and Paddy Power are offering 5/2 for Spain to make it to the final game. You can also bet in the ‘Name the Finalists’ market where you’ll get 12/1 with Betfred for it to be a Spain vs Germany Euro 2016 final.
