Euro 2016 betting tips for a prediction on who will be the lowest scoring team at the tournament, there are some ‘smaller’ nations taking part, will one of them be lowest scorers?
When looking at the teams taking part in France this summer, there’s a few contenders for who will score the lowest amount of goals in the tournament. The obvious candidates for this are the underdogs who are most likely to be eliminated in the group stage.
Euro 2016 Lowest Scorers Betting Tip
There are a few things I’ve took into consideration when picking this bet out. Recent form in the friendlies and qualification form. It’s a good starting point to see which teams are struggling to find the back of the net against which teams. Injuries to key forwards may play its part as a few teams are extremely reliant on one player in the squad, without them it could cause a goal drought. Lastly looking at the teams they will be facing and how they are defensively could be a big factor.
The first team I have looked at for this bet are Northern Ireland (13/2 bet365). Although they are in an excellent run of form and have been finding the net on most occasions, they haven’t played a highly ranked team in my opinion since Chile in 2014 as the Euro 2016 qualification group was particularly easy. You can’t say for sure if they are ready for the challenge they face in the group playing Germany, Ukraine and Poland but I don’t think they are. The depth in their squad isn’t the strongest and when you compare the squads they don’t match up. Based on them not progressing from the group you wouldn’t be surprised if they got beat to nil off all three opponents and I can’t see them scoring more than a goal or two at best which could be enough.
Romania progressed from the same group as Northern Ireland and never really had a huge challenge. They always seemed to participate in low scoring games and were definitely in with a shout before the pre-tournament friendlies. However, the last two games have seen 13 goals for and against and it has changed my perspective of them. Playing against France, Switzerland and Romania, none of them have the most solid defence and leak goals on a regular basis. France shown this against Cameroon a couple of games ago. Although the goals could easily dry up again for Romania I think Northern Ireland are the best bet. See our France v Romania betting preview for the first match at Euro 2016.
Although I looked at a few other teams, I had my doubts in them such as Hungary, they were considered but the group seems so competitive and it’s hard to say who will progress meaning you can’t bank on any of the teams not scoring. Albania from group A were also considered but they have scored in each of the last seven games and seemed a consistent side who will also face some leaky defences in the group. Groups B, D and E also seem competitive and even top teams such as Belgium and Italy can concede large amount of goals so none of them were an obvious option.
My Euro 2016 prediction for this one is going to be Northern Ireland to score the lowest amount of goals in the tournament. Based on the fact I can’t see them escaping the group as the competition are all of a high standard. They have done well to get this far but I think this might be a challenge too many for them with the strikers that they have. The best odds for this are currently 13/2 with Bet365 which seems a good value single for Euro 2016.
