Football predictions for this weekend’s Championship clash between Burnley and Birmingham City with free football betting tips.

 

Both of these sides got off to the respectable starts in the league last weekend with the home side picking up a 1-1 draw at Elland Road whilst Birmingham won 2-1 in front of a home crowd against Reading. These two meet in the early kick off on Saturday with the possibility of going top of the table; albeit for a couple of hours.

A super sub from Sean Dyche rescued matters for the Clarets after they found themselves behind to a late Mirco Antenucci goal. A superb cross from new signing Tendayi Darikwa provided the ammunition for Sam Vokes to superbly guide his header into the back of the net, much to the delight of the travelling away fans.

 

Meanwhile Jon Toral had an impressive debut on loan from Arsenal as he netted the winner for Brum. The youngster was on loan at Brentford last season and showed he is perfectly capable of mixing it with the Championship standard players.

 

Reading at home was a relatively easy start for the Blues, they face a much stiffer task here against relegated Burnley. Burnley weren’t embarrassed last season in the Premier League and more than held their own. They can get the better of Birmingham this time out, despite the fact that Gary Rowett’s side are much better this season.

 

Burnley v Birmingham Winner Prediction:

 

Despite losing Jason Shackell, Burnley have recruited well and it now seems they have a litany of strikers to choose from – Marvin Sordell, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Jelle Vossen, Chris Long and the aforementioned Sam Vokes. The latter perhaps will be granted a start and certainly is capable at this level. Sean Dyche has hinted there will be more signings to come and has had a bid for Henri Lansbury turned down. They certainly don’t need strengthening in the striking department. I fancy them to have too much firepower and should be able to take three points here.
