Southampton v Everton predictions and betting tips for this weekend’s Premier League football where our tipster has picked three bets for the early kick-off.
Both of these teams started with a 2-2 draw last weekend but it is Southampton who are favourites to get three points against Everton Saturday.
Southampton v Everton Predictions
Southampton started the season with a 2-2 draw away at Newcastle United, with Shane Long coming off the bench to score a late equaliser. Long will be pushing for a start to play alongside Graziano Pellè, who headed in Saints’ first against the Magpies. Both have started the season well, the two were on the scoresheet in the Europa League against Vitesse Arnhem with Pellè in particular looking dangerous. He’ll be looking to improve on his tally of 13 goals last season and I’m betting on him to continue his goalscoring streak here. Go for him to score first, many bookmakers are offering it at 9/2 but go with betfred who have him at 4/1 and will double or triple the odds if he scores two or three.
My first Southampton v Everton prediction is for Pelle to score first, take the 4/1 at Ladbrokes and if he scores in the first 25 minutes you’ll get double the odds, so paid out at 8/1.

Everton also started off with a 2-2 draw, though they’ll be disappointed with their showing at home to Premier League new boys Watford. They showed character to twice come from behind but despite a lot of possession it was a poor performance from the Toffees. New signing Tom Cleverly was one of the few shining lights along with Ross Barkley’s stunning finish. Boss Roberto Martinez will have to decide whether Brendan Galloway continues to deputise for the injured Leighton Baines or if he’ll give a start to Bryan Oviedo, who came off the bench against the Hornets as he continues to recover from a fractured metatarsal. Gerard Deulofeu and Muhamed Besic may also return after hamstring injuries.
Southampton have injury concerns of their own. Aside from the long term injury to keeper Fraser Forster they’re missing left back Ryan Bertrand and it’s doubtful if new signing Jordy Clasie will be fit. Oriol Romeu, signed from Chelsea, may make an appearance. Saints duo Steven Davis and Victor Wanyama didn’t look particularly solid last weekend in a midfield that’s obviously missing Morgan Schneiderlin and this is an area Everton could exploit. I can see them getting on the scoresheet, get on them to score over 1.5 goals at 21/10 with Coral.
My next Southampton v Everton prediction is for Everton to score over 1.5 goals, the best odds are 29/10 with Coral.

Everton will score, but Southampton will score more. Both defences were uncharacteristically flimsy last weekend and if that continues they’ll be a few goals in this with Southampton just edging it. Get on Southampton to win and over 3.5 total match goals at 11/2 with Paddy Power, who are also offering money back specials on this game.
My third Southampton v Everton betting tip is for Southampton to win and total match goals over 3.5 at 11/2 Paddy Power.
