QPR’s hopes of an immediate return to the top flight took a knock after losing 2-0 to Charlton Athletic on the opening day of the season. Austin has been linked with a move away from the London club all summer with several Premier League clubs keeping tabs on him, including Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs. Ramsey is hoping he can convince Austin to stay and has opened contracts talks as he is now in his final year of his current contract.

 

The club value the player at £15m but so far no club has met that mark, with only Leicester testing QPR’s resolve with a bid in the region of £12m. The Loftus Road club will be hoping not to lose their star man for a discount price come January and will hope he signs a new deal. Either way Rangers will be hoping this transfer saga doesn’t drag on and disrupt their battle to get back into the big time.

 

The last time these two clubs faced each other was back in 2011, the Championship match ended 2-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium. On that day Adel Taarabt was the star man scoring two goals for his the club as the marched to the Championship title.

 

QPR’s have recently agreed a £1.4m deal with Bolton for USA international Tim Ream. The 27-year-old is in London for a medical and to discuss personal terms and looks set to snub Fulham in favour of joining Chris Ramsey squad.
