Newcastle ended a woeful seven game run without a win with an excellent 3-0 victory at home to Swansea City at the weekend. They were fortunate at times, Swansea missed a couple of chances at 1-0, but they went on to take a much needed three points. It was vital they did so, their North East rivals Sunderland also picked up three points at Norwich City to close the gap on the 17th placed Canaries, and a win here for the Magpies will see them join Alex Neil's men on 31 points and possibly out of the relegation zone.
They'll be without Fabricio Coloccini and Daryl Janmaat but fellow defender Kevin Mbabu might be fit to play a part in this one. Moussa Sissoko impressed after captaining the side in the victory over the Swans but Jonjo Shelvey may have to settle once more for a place on the bench.
Manchester City
Manchester City recorded an excellent 3-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening to extend their winning run to three League games and are now unbeaten in five in all competitions. They've scored nine goals in their last three Premier League matches, conceding only one, and have moved up to third in the table at the expense of Arsenal. City tend to finish seasons well, and while the title is well out of reach (although this is City…) consolidating third place looks well within their grasp.
They go into this one with captain Vincent Kompany back in the squad after the defender has missed the last six games with a calf problem, and Raheem Sterling is also fit to return. They are however without Samir Nasri, who picked up a muscle injury in that win against Chelsea, and Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and David Silva are out too.

City's record against Newcastle is superb, they've won the last 12 games against them, scoring 38 goals in the process. They're also the league's highest goalscorers too, scoring 61 goals so far, exactly the same amount as Newcastle have conceded-only relegated Aston Villa have conceded more. So it looks like they'll be goals aplenty in this one, my first Newcastle vs Manchester City betting tip is for there to be over 3.5 goals in this one.
