Both Teams to Score Tips for Tonight
Bolton v Charlton
Our opening choice on the both teams to score coupon tonight features a battle between The Championship’s bottom two clubs as Charlton travel to Bolton. Once again, Wanderers more than held their own in a game this season, only to throw it all away at the very death. Jordan Rhodes’ strike for Boro was the 21st goal Bolton had conceded in the last fifteen minutes this season, with a large portion of those costing them the match. Nevertheless, despite being pretty useless in the league, they have emerged as outstanding contenders in the BTTS market over the last third of the season. Out of their last 15 matches, 12 of those have finished with both teams making it onto the scoresheet. Opponents Charlton might head up north with a ten-point cushion over Bolton, but will surely suffer the same fate at the end of the season. Although their BTTS record is fairly modest, this match does feature the league’s two worst defences, with both sides having leaked a ridiculous 151 goals between them this year. With these facts in mind, back this game to get the ball rolling.
Bristol City v Derby
The second selection features a potentially high-scoring encounter between Bristol City and Derby at Ashton Gate. The Robbins have had a solid last third of the season and have shrugged off any relegation worries that may have arisen over the festive period. Following this decent run, City have also scored a lot of goals and produced a healthy return for BTTS matches along the way. Five of their last seven games have finished with both teams finding the net and they have scored a highly impressive 11 goals in their last three home games on top of that. Visitors Derby County are basically playing to see which playoff position they will occupy come the end of the campaign. Although they have won their last five matches on the bounce at the iPro, recent form on the road has been far less convincing. The Rams have now gone ten games without keeping a clean sheet on their travels and have only won two of those games along to way as well. However, the flip side to this that seven of those clashes have seen a BTTS outcome, and I fancy that to follow suit again tonight in Bristol.
Ipswich v Fulham
The last of three Championship games in our both teams to score tip for tonight sees Ipswich take on Fulham at Portman Road. The hosts aren’t in particularly good form at the moment and have only picked up one win in their last eight games. Needless to say, this has completely put paid to any lingering hopes of forcing their way into the playoffs. Although their BTTS record is average, they have seen that outcome fall in their last two results and also beat Tuesday’s opponents 2-1 earlier in the season. Fulham were my main consideration towards picking this match, though, The Cottagers have by far and away the best BTTS ratio in The Championship at a whopping 74%. If this wasn’t enough to convince you, though, that figure even rises slightly to 76% whilst away from home, and seven of their last eight matches have all finished with both teams scoring. Next please.
Rochdale v Gillingham
Our anchor leg on tonight’s football tip features two of the sides vying for the playoff places in League One as Rochdale welcome Gillingham to town. The hosts are one of the most in-form sides in the division at present and this purple patch has rewarded them with a decent chance of forcing their way into the top six come the end of the campaign. Rochdale have been fantastic at home of late and have only dropped two points in their last six matches. In addition to this, The Angels average more goals at home than any other side in League One and four of their last six games have seen a BTTS outcome. Opponents Gillingham are having an absolute shocker at the moment and their excellent start to the season is in grave danger of finding its way in the bin come May. Although goalscoring has been a major concern over the last few games, The Gills still remain the third highest scorers in the league and also have the joint highest ratio in the division for BTTS encounters away from home at 67%. We could really do with an early goal in this one, let’s hope we get it.
