Football Accumulator Tips 16th April 2016
Preston v MK Dons – Preston to win
We begin this weekend’s accumulator tip in the Championship. These two clubs were both promoted from League One last term but have had very different seasons this time around. Preston are sitting comfortably in the top half of the table and will be playing Championship football again next season. They have built their season on being tight at the back and have the fifth best defensive record in the league. After winning their first two matches of the season The MK Dons have dropped down the table and look destined for an immediate return to League One. They have the worst scoring record in the division and it is that lack of fire power that has seen them struggle this season. After last week’s 4-0 home defeat to Rotherham they now find themselves nine points from safety. They have lost four matches on the bounce and are lacking in confidence so I fully expect Preston to take the points.
Rotherham v Nottingham Forest – Rotherham to win
Back in February Rotherham were in the bottom three and looked like being relegated to League One. They then appointed the experienced Neil Warnock as their new manager and he has overseen the Miller's climb out of the relegation zone and won manager of the month award for March. They are unbeaten in eight matches having won six in that time and I wouldn't bet against them added to that tally on Saturday. Their opponents Nottingham Forest have had a campaign to forget. They have sat in mid-table for most of the season but a recent run of just a single win in eleven league matches has seen them part company with manager Dougie Freedman slip down the table to sit just above the drop zone. Forest just don't look like winning at the moment and will find it tough against a team so high on confidence.

Coventry v Millwall – Millwall to win
At the turn of the year Coventry looked like a club who could be playing at Championship level football next season while Millwall were struggling to find any consistency and sitting in mid-table. Since then both of these clubs have had a dramatic change of fortune and unfortunately for Coventry their season has taken a turn for the worse. The Sky Blues have recorded just two victories in 17 matches and have dropped into the bottom half of the division. Millwall on the other hand have found some form at just the right time and have risen to fifth in the standings. The Lions have only lost twice in nineteen and have one of the strongest away records in League One. They have only conceded one goal in five matches and to me this match has to go with the formbook and Millwall will consolidate their position in the play-offs.
Doncaster v Wigan – Wigan to win
After relegation from the Championship last season the Wigan faithful were expecting a promotion push this term. They struggled for the first ten games of the campaign but since then have proved themselves to be the strongest side in the league and they should go on to lift the title. They have won all of their last five league matches to put themselves four points clear at the top with just five games to go. Striker Will Grigg scored his 21st league goal of the season last weekend and he will be looking forward to playing a side who looked doomed to relegation. Doncaster have had an awful season. Just two seasons ago they were playing Championship football but next season they will be applying their trade in League Two. Rovers have gone 16 matches without a victory and are now eight points from safety and all I can see is another defeat here to move them closer to the relegation trap door.
Accrington v Morecambe – Accrington to win
We finish this week’s accumulator in League Two. Accrington were favourites for relegation at the start of the season but have been the leagues surprise package and have a good chance of gaining promotion. Stanley start this match in an automatic promotion position after a run of seven matches without defeat. They have a strong home record and have scored more than another club in the division on their own patch. The goals of Billy Kee have been vital for Stanley and if he can keep scoring then surely they will be a League One club next season. Their opponents Morecambe have been lower mid-table all season and are virtually safe from the drop. They have hit some poor form in recent weeks that has seen them slip down the table. Four defeats in five matches is a concern and Accrington should be able to take advantage on this and secure another win.
