There’s one game in the Championship tonight as Blackburn Rovers visit the IPro Stadium. We have the best bets for the match.
Derby v Blackburn Predictions
Derby got their first win of 2016 at the weekend much to the relief of their supporters. It’s been a long time coming for the Rams and it wasn’t looking good for a while, but a flurry of late goals saw them triumph over Brentford at Griffin Park.
A goal for Chris Martin must have come as a relief to caretaker manager Darren Wassall, who tasted victory in just his second match in charge. Despite the poor run they’ve embarked on, they remain 5th in the table and have only lost just three times here all season. They’re a decent side and have spent a lot of money in recruiting some of the best players in the Championship.
Blackburn Rovers weren’t in action at the weekend in the league, they were in FA Cup action and got hammered at Ewood by Premier League opposition. Paul Lambert has said his side need this match to bounce back and he must be one of the few managers pleased with the hectic fixture list.
Rovers got a decent result at home last week against Fulham as they scored three goals in one game, a rarely seen occurrence at Ewood Park these days and boosted their own goal total which was the second lowest in the league prior to kick off.
Derby have a decent defensive record this season, despite their blip, they have still only conceded 28 goals in 32 games. Barring the three goals they shipped against Birmingham and the 4-1 pasting by Burnley, it’s lack of goals which have affected them, as opposed to a leaky backline.
Many of the Derby players have come out this week and declared that the Brentford result could re-ignite their Championship season and I agree with them. The three points can only inspire confidence and get them out of the rut.
The Rams are still only five points off the automatic promotion positions and they’ll be heartened by the fact that the likes of Middlesbrough and Brighton are dropping points. If they can put together a run of results, they can cement at least a play-off position come the end of the season. There aren’t many easy games in this league and they face a difficult trip to Molineux at the weekend, so it’s important they collect maximum points at home.
Blackburn haven’t won in their last five away games, but there has been a slight improvement having drawn their last two against Charlton and Middlesbrough. Their win against Fulham was the first time they’ve kept a clean sheet since the middle of December. Defensively they always look a little sounder with Grant Hanley at the back and he should be marshalling the back four here.
Moving onto my Derby vs Blackburn tips I just think Derby will have too much for Blackburn. Two weeks ago and I would have pointed you towards the draw. Following their morale boosting win, I think they will just about take all three points here.
My first football betting tip for Derby v Blackburn is for Derby to win. They can be backed at 17/20 with William Hill.

They haven’t shipped many goals per game, but Derby have failed to keep a clean sheet in all but one of their last nine games in the league. Blackburn found a way of firing three past Fulham and they netted against West Ham in the cup. They have Danny Graham in their squad now and although the former Swansea striker has a reputation for not scoring, he can be prolific at Championship level. I do believe Blackburn can grab a goal here.
My second Derby v Blackburn prediction is for Both Teams to Score? Yes. It’s 23/20 with Bet Victor.

Nick Blackman hasn’t managed a goal for his new club yet, but it could be his striker partner Chris Martin, who can make it two in two here for tonight’s anytime goalscorer tip. The former Norwich man is a talented striker and scores all types of goals. Saturday was his first goal since the 12th of December when he netted during their 2-2 draw with Brighton. He is their top goalscorer and has scored six of his ten goals at home this season.
My third Derby v Blackburn prediction for tonight is for Chris Martin to score anytime. He can be backed at 13/8 with Betfair.
