Rapid Vienna v Valencia BTTS

Gary Neville takes his Valencia side to Austria with what looks like an unassailable 6-0 lead from the first leg. Rapid have nothing to lose and may as well take the tie by the scruff of the neck and go full pelt at a Valencia side who have underperformed in La Liga. If they get one or two early goals, this could set a few Valencia nerves on edge. I expect Rapid to score at least one, but inevitably they will leave huge gaps at the back and I can see Valencia taking advantage of their aggregate lead and sealing the tie with at least a one away goal in Austria. This is a definite pick for Thursday’s Europa League BTTS accumulator tip.

 

Porto v Dortmund BTTS

Borussia Dortmund take a 2-0 lead to Portugal for the second leg of their Europa League tie, and given their free scoring form in the League, I severely doubt they'll shut up shop and hope Porto fail to score. Second leg ties usually have a lot of excitement, and it'll be interesting to see what happens if Porto nick an early lead. Porto have only failed to score once in their last 12 European home fixtures, and despite the quality of the Dortmund side they're facing, Porto are averaging 2 goals a game in the League and I expect them to put up a good fight against the free scoring Germans.

 

Man United v FC Midtjylland BTTS

United had an absolute shocker in Denmark last week, and it's safe to say that Louis Van Gaal’s job is hanging by a thread. United managed to overcome Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Monday, but they are ravaged by injuries and their confidence is on the floor. United could play for a 1-0 win, but given their vulnerability in defence, and their inability to deal with The Danes’ pressing and counter attacking style, I can definitely see Midtjylland grabbing a famous goal at Old Trafford. I expect Midtjylland to show the same enthusiasm as they did in the first leg, and judging by their joy at their home victory over United, they will be absolutely gunning for a result to take them through. United simply have to score to go through and the fans will be screaming for attacking football. I expect a huge amount of nerves, and at least a goal for each team. The way it's set up, this certainly won't be a normal boring Old Trafford experience and the odds for both teams to score are very generous.

 

Basel v St Etienne BTTS

We complete this week’s Europa League both teams to score tip with this fixture that was a thriller last week. Basel and St Etienne played out a five goal thriller in France last week, and with a slender 3-2 lead, St Etienne won't be able to rest on their laurels knowing that a single goal victory for Basel would take the Swiss side through. Europa League second legs are almost always exciting, and given the five goals we saw back in France, I expect this second leg to produce a number of goals, and just as much excitement as the first leg.
