Over 2.5 Goals Tips 20th February.
Preston v Sheffield Wednesday Betting Tip
Sheffield Wednesday are scoring for fun at the moment and they hit four past Brentford at the weekend. True, the Bees didn’t help themselves by going down to 10 men early on in the game, but you imagine, Wednesday would have turned the screw at some point. Gary Hooper appears to be a terrific signing and the creative Italian Fernando Forestieri continues to be mesmeric. They have now netted 13 times in their last seven games, scoring in each. The 4-0 rout saw them overtake Burnley as the league’s top scorers and I can see them adding to that total in Lancashire. Preston started the season defensively and were involved in a number of low-scoring games, but they’ve opened up of late. It’s two consecutive 2-1 wins in a row now for the Lilywhites as they saw off Huddersfield and Wolves. I can’t see winning again, but they’ll play their part in a top class match with plenty of chances and hopefully plenty of goals to follow.
Over 2.5 goals – yes.
Chesterfield v Crewe Betting Tip
If you’d bet on Crewe’s trip to Rochdale in midweek, then the Over 2.5 goals tip would have come in after 26 minutes. Crewe certainly play a very open game and it’s very entertaining, but it isn’t helping lift them out of the bottom four. Saying that, the Railwaymen are now unbeaten in six games, drawing five of them. It’s ten goals scored in their last seven matches and they’ve let in a fair few as well. Whilst not prolific, Chesterfield have enough about them to get on the scoresheet here and they recently hit seven here against Shrewsbury, so they do have plenty of firepower. Lee Novak scored in midweek against Colchester and he could be a thorn in the side of the Crewe backline, who are a very generous bunch, having conceded in each of their last 15 games. These two sides have conceded over 100 goals between them this season and I can’t see either defence tightening up ahead of this one.
Over 2.5 goals – yes.
Bristol Rovers v Morecambe Betting Tip
Morecambe have one of the leakiest defences in the league at the moment. After going down to 10 men on Saturday, Oxford ran riot and ended up winning 4-2. But, Morecambe have largely kept their heads afloat by scoring so many goals. They will be without Shaun Miller for this match, but Tom Barkhuizen is back and he and Paul Mullin are both regular scorers at this level. Kevin Ellison, the experienced head in midfield always seems to be in the right place at the right time too. They’ve scored in their last 14 consecutive matches and their last six away matches. Bristol Rovers are challenging for promotion to League One and what a job Darrell Clarke is doing. They’ve scored in their last eight consecutive home matches and conceded in each of their last five matches. Last time these sides met (In October) it ended 3-4.
Over 2.5 goals – yes.
Mansfield v Dagenham Betting Tip
Mansfield are away specialists, but that’s not to say they can’t score goals at home. They’re last game at Field Mill was a 2-1 victory over Morecambe. Three of their last four matches here would have landed the Over 2.5 goals bet. They don’t rely on one particular scorer, but they always seem to be shared around, although Matt Green is of course their focal point. They’ve also conceded in each of their last 10 home matches, which bodes well for a high scoring match. Dagenham are bottom of the entire football league and struggling under John Still. They’ve also conceded in each of their last 12 games and their last 6 away. Prior to drawing a blank at Cambridge, they had scored seven goals in their previous three away games. Five of their last seven matches have had more than three goals in them and this is another fixture which surprisingly ended 3-4 when the teams last met.
Over 2.5 goals – yes.
Oxford v Accrington Betting Tip
Accrington have got a lot of fixtures to play at the Wham Stadium still, but they are on their travels for this one as they head to the Kassam. Oxford are better away from home and will be disappointed to not grab at least a point from their match with Northampton in midweek. But they drew 2-2 with Mansfield here previously and had hit three past Exeter. Accrington always play their part in any fixture and if they grab a play-off place, it will quite the achievement. They hit four past Crawley last weekend, despite being down to nine men and although they could only draw 1-1 with Carlisle in midweek, I think there will be plenty of goals in this one. Kemar Roofe and Danny Hylton are both freescoring for Oxford whilst Michael Appleton will have to find a way of keeping Josh Windass, Piero Mingoia and Billy Kee quiet.
Over 2.5 goals – yes.
