Burnley vs Rotherham Predictions and Betting Tips – 20/02/16

Burnley vs Rotherham betting tips and weekend Championship predictions for Saturday 20th February’s 3pm kick-off.

There are a number of 3pm kick offs in the Championship at the weekend and with Middlesbrough & Hull not in action, it’s a chance for Burnley to make a bid for second place.

Burnley vs Rotherham Predictions

The Clarets currently sit in 4th place and have become a trusty, solid outfit. There has been no freefalling following their relegation and Sean Dyche has his side competing for an instant return to the top flight.

It’s no defeat in the last eight games now for the hosts and they don’t look like coming undone here against a relegation haunted Rotherham.

Defending has been a real plus point for the home side this season and they’ve now just conceded a single goal in four home matches and just three goals in eight in the league. Michael Keane, Ben Mee and the recent addition of James Tarkowski have made them tough opposition with Hull, Ipswich and Bristol City all failing to find a way past them here recently.

They would like a few more goals and although some of the £9m they paid for Andre Gray has been recouped with important goals, the former Brentford and Luton marksman appears to squander a lot of chances. They should have been out of sight against Reading last weekend and even missed from the spot.

Rotherham have swapped one Neil for another as Redfearn made way for Warnock. The former QPR boss appears to have tightened things up at the back. They held Birmingham to a 0-0 draw at the New York Stadium at the weekend, but there are still doubts over whether they have enough quality to stay in the division. At least they are relying on fewer loanees than last season, although personnel does seem to change regularly.

They’ve scored 36 goals in 31 games, so they aren’t bad going forward, but it’s keeping them out at the other end which remains the problem. They’ve kept just two clean sheets away from home all season and it’s hard to see them adding to that total at Turf Moor.

Warnock has this week been giving trials to Jerome Thomas and Lloyd Doyley, but only the former has been signed up. Burnley have added Lloyd Dyer to their squad, but he will be sitting out of this game.

I can’t see past the home win here for my weekend football tips in the Championship. Burnley have only lost twice here all season and have won four of the last five, only being held to a goalless draw by Ipswich. As you can imagine, they are very short, so I’m going to play them on the handicap. They would have covered the -1 against Derby, Bristol City and Charlton recently and I fancy them to win by two clear goals here. Although Rotherham have tightened up, I think they will find it harder away from home.

My first Burnley vs Rotherham prediction is for Burnley (-1) Handicap. They are 31/20 with Coral.

Burnley were ruthless against an out of sorts Derby when they cruised to a 4-1 win. They beat Hull, but with the Tigers fine defensive record, it was unlikely they were going to be free-scoring. I think they will grab a couple here.

My second football betting prediction for Burnley v Rotherham this weekend is for Burnley to score over 1.5 team goals. This bet is best odds 4/6 with Betfred.

Andre Gray is always incredibly short on the goalscoring markets. For my anytime goalscorer tip I’m going for his striker partner instead, who has been a little more clinical of late. Sam Vokes has seven goals to his name this season, four of them have been here in front of the Burnley fans.

My third Burnley vs Rotherham betting tip is for Sam Vokes to score anytime. He can be backed at 9/5 with Stan James.
