West Ham

West Ham's excellent season kicked off with a win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium where they halted a run of nine successive defeats against the Gunners. Goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate secured a 2-0 win that day, and the Hammers have gone on to be serious challengers for a Champions League spot next season sitting sixth, three points behind fourth placed Manchester City.

 

Slaven Bilic could welcome back James Collins for this one, and Sam Byram could also be fit to play some part in this game. Kouyate is available after the FA rescinded the red card he picked up in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace. Arsene Wenger is waiting on the fitness of Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey but he'll be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Santi Cazorla. Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere are back in training but this game might come too soon for the pair.

 

The Hammers are in decent form, they've only lost one of their last eight league games as they keep the pressure on the teams above them. They were unlucky to only draw with Palace last time out with the wrongful dismissal of Kouyate proving costly as Dwight Gayle equalised for the Eagles. They've also got a great record against sides in the top five, their only defeats against sides currently above them came against Leicester and Tottenham earlier on in the season.

 

Arsenal

Arsenal are in third, but Gunners fans will be disappointed they're not closer to challenging leaders Leicester. They're eleven points behind top spot, albeit with a game in hand, and after spending years blaming the money of City and Chelsea for them not winning the title again there's no excuse for not taking advantage of those sides having poor seasons. Their top four place isn't secure either, and a defeat here will see West Ham move to within four points of their London rivals.

 

Arsenal were in fine form last weekend with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Watford to make it two wins from two after going three league games without a victory.

This though is a tough test for Wenger's men, and it's one I think they'll fail. My Premier League prediction for this weekend is I think West Ham will win this one, they tend to do well against the sides above and around them and with this occasion being the last time they'll face Arsenal at the Boleyn Ground coupled with the opportunity to close the gap the incentive is huge. My frist West Ham v Arsenal prediction is West Ham to win and the best odds are 3/1 at Bet Victor.

 

Dimitri Payet scored his 12th goal of the season in the Palace draw with another wonderful free kick. He's been the star man for the Hammers this year, it's hard to see past him for an anytime goalscorer bet which is my next West Ham v Arsenal prediction for this weekend’s fixture.
