Sky Bet Championship Preview 2015/16 and Football Betting Tips

Sky Bet Championship predictions and betting tips for the new season with three free football betting tips on England’s second tier.

The Sky Bet Championship saw one of the tightest finishes in recent years at the top end of the table last season. With a game to play, it was confirmed that Watford and Bournemouth would be joining England’s elite, whilst six teams were left to battle it out for four play-off positions. It was all change throughout the afternoon as clubs fluctuated between delight and heartache. Eventually Norwich were victorious in the end of season shootout and the remainder of teams were left licking their wounds and planning for another Championship season.

Sky Bet Championship Preview 2015/16.

It looks set to be another cracking campaign, with the likes of QPR, Hull, MK Dons and Preston joining the ranks and it will be as competitive as ever.

There have been plenty of signings and with teams easing into their pre-season schedules, here are some possible football tips to look at.

Wolves to be Promoted – 9/2 with Coral.

Kenny Jackett’s side were up there last season and just missed out on a play-off spot. They scored goals for fun, but they also conceded them as well and inevitably a leaky back line was their downfall. Jackett will want his side to tighten up whilst not compromising their flair and firepower this season. He has bought in Jed Wallace from Portsmouth, a creative individual who can run at players, but may be a little green & Connor Coady, Huddersfield’s player of the season for £2m, an absolute bargain. He will add some steel to the midfield and possibly shield the defence from possible exposure. They still have Benik Afobe & Nouah Dicko up front so there are plenty of goals in the side and despite the loss of Bakary Sako, I think they can be a force to be reckoned with under the expert tutelage of Kenny Jackett.

Although Derby are favourites for promotion, which is understandable considering their strike-force, I think Wolves are a better price and have a great chance of returning to the Premier League for my first football betting tip.

Brighton to finish in the bottom half – 5/6 with Sky Bet.

Brighton struggled last season, they were uninspiring at times, but once Chris Hughton took over, they tightened up. They had a problem with scoring goals last season, despite the signings of Chris O’Grady & Sam Baldock. Hughton is a reliable, consistent individual who will ensure his side don’t flirt with the trap door, but I believe there are a number of sides who will be able finish above them, pushing the Seagulls into lower mid-table obscurity.

Signings haven’t quite caught the imagination, but some of them are unknowns and could turn out to be successful purchases. Liam Rosenior is a solid senior pro with Premier League experience but whether the likes of Tomer Hemed can adapt to the fast pace of the Championship is another question altogether. Brighton need to sign a striker who can score 15+ goals a season and Hughton needs to play him alongside another forward, not up front on his own. We’ll see how they get on, but I don’t fancy Brighton finishing above 12th place for my next Sky Bet Championship football prediction.

Rotherham to get relegated – 15/8 with Ladbrokes.

Rotherham are favourites for the drop and I am with the bookies on this one. Steve Evan’s side were fortuitous that Blackpool were in dire straits, Wigan imploded and Millwall couldn’t put a run of victories together last season as they narrowly escaped a return to League One. This year, the division looks stronger and I can’t see any of the promoted teams being cut adrift at the foot of the ladder. As unpopular as he is, there are no doubting the credentials of Steve Evans, he has a number of promotions on his CV and can clearly galvanise a team into playing above their collective potential.

The amount of players he used last season was second only to Blackpool and there were several poor loan signings, some of whom never made it onto the pitch. The signings of Joe Mattocks, Danny Collins, Greg Halford and Aidy White look like a mixture of injury prone campaigners and Championship plodders. Emmanuel Ledesma is a player to get fans on their feet, but he is inconsistent and they need him to perform. They’ve lost Ben Pringle, Kari Arnason & Craig Morgan and I think they will struggle in a stronger division.
