Premier League Predictions – Liverpool.

It is fair to say that save for the departure of Kop-legend Steven Gerrard to the MLS retirement home the 2014/15 was a forgettable one for Liverpool fans. This season could be different however as Liverpool have set the pace for transfer activity so far.

The industrious James Milner was snapped up on a free transfer. Ex-Burnley striker Danny Ings was picked up after his contract expired. The ageing Glen Johnson has been replaced at right back by the freshly England capped Nathaniel Clyne. Adam Bogdan was signed on a free to be cover for Mignolet and most importantly the cash has been splashed on Brazilian Roberto Firmino.

Firmino may not be a prolific goalscorer but he is the sort of creative presence that should thrive in Brendan Rodger's system. The thought of Firmino linking up with the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge will give Premier League defenders nightmares. If Liverpool can stump up the cash to meet Christian Benteke’s £32.5 million release clause then they will probably have pulled off the best transfer window of the Rodgers' era.

Given all this transfer activity then what should Liverpool be looking to in the upcoming season?

Liverpool to finish in the top 6 – 4/11 with Bet365.

Clearly the aim is to finish in the top four and the bookies have a Liverpool top four finish priced up at 11/4 with bet365. Whilst odds of almost 3/1 are tempting they aren't good enough. It is hard to see Liverpool supplanting any of last season's top four. A top six finish is a far more realistic prospect. At odds of 4/11 with bet365 the price may not excite too much but a top six finish for Liverpool is all but a banker.

Brendan Rogers to be the next manager to leave – 4/1 with Ladbrokes.

A more intriguing bet is Brendan Rodgers to be the next manager to leave his post. Liverpool tend not to start Premier League seasons brilliantly and their first five games include trips to Old Trafford and the Emirates, an opening day repeat of last season's final game at Stoke and tricky looking games against Bournemouth and West Ham. If Liverpool have a poor start to the season Rodgers could easily find himself being shown the door. Rodgers to be the next Premier League Manager to leave his post is 4/1 with Ladbrokes.
