Watford to beat Wigan

Watford had been on a poor recent run until last week’s 5-0 win away at Fulham. The confidence of that victory should help to get The Hornets back on track for a play-off push. They come up against a Wigan side in a real mess this season. One of the favourites for promotion pre-season, they find themselves sitting second from bottom and survival this term now has to be the main aim. Unfortunately for new manager Malky Mackay that bid for safety may have to start next week.

 

Swindon to win away at Notts County

Neither of these teams were really fancied for promotion before the season started but both currently find themselves in the top seven. Second placed Swindon Town are having a fine season having won their last four league outings and will be hoping to continue that run against stuttering County and get another winning leg on our weekend accumulator tips. The Magpies are still in the mix for promotion but recent form must be a concern. They have just a single league victory in four and will be hoping to get back on track but that may well prove difficult against Mark Cooper's high flying Robin's.

 

Oldham to beat Yeovil

This is an eagerly awaited contest in League One for the managers as son Lee Johnson takes on his father Gary. Oldham are having an impressive season and currently hold a play-off berth. They have lost just three times all season and only once since August. The fans have started dreaming of promotion for the first time since 1991. They come up against a Yeovil side going in the other direction. The Glovers have really struggled since relegation last term and have just a single victory in ten. Looks like Lee will have the family bragging rights this Christmas.

 

Burton to beat Hartlepool

Hartlepool's awful season got even worse last week after getting knocked out of The FA Cup by non-league opposition. Sadly manager Paul Murray paid the price and lost his job after that defeat. Rock bottom Pool have won just three league matches all season and relegation is looking a real threat unless they can dramatically improve their form. Fourth placed Burton Albion are looking up rather than down and if new manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink can get them playing then promotion is achievable. For that to happen then this is the kind of match that they have to win.

 

Luton to win away at Morecombe

Luton are having a great season back in the football league and are looking at back to back promotions. The Hatters have a great defensive record and have conceded just the 12 goals all campaign. They are on great form and have won nine out of their last eleven league outings and should have enough to beat Morecambe and complete our weekend accumulator tips. The seasiders currently sit in mid table but after a fine start to the season, they are beginning to falter after just won win in seven matches. I fully expect this one to go with the form book.
