Russia host Lithuania on Saturday as they begin their preparations for the European Championships this summer and I have three football tips for this international friendly.
Russia vs Lithuania Predictions
Russia's qualifying campaign for Euro 2016 started on an average note, winning two drawing two and losing two of their first six games which culminated in the sacking of ex England boss Fabio Capello. Leonid Slutsky (cool name) stepped in and led Russia to the second automatic qualification spot in Group G, winning their last four qualification games. Whilst Slutsky has a great record in charge, they did lose last time out, a friendly at Croatia resulting in a 3-1 defeat. Still, this should be a pretty easy work out for the Russians, with odds of 2/9 for the home win reflecting that.
Lithuania will be well known to England fans as the Three Lions recorded 4-0 and 3-0 wins over them in Group E of their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign. Lithuania finished second from bottom in the Group after losing six games in total, their only wins coming against San Marino and at home to Estonia. This will be a tough game for new head coach Edgaras Jankauskas, a name Hearts fans will be familiar with after his time as a player and assistant manager at Tynecastle.
Russia vs Lithuania Team News:
Slutsky has mixture of youth and experience in his squad for this friendly and next week's game against the hosts of Euro 2016 France. He's called up CSKA Moscow's young midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, despite the youngster only starting once for his club this season, but Aleksandr Erokhin misses out after injury has seen him only play once for Rostov since October. The Lithuanian squad sees another call up for young Nottingham Forest midfielder Deimantas Petravičius, but Marius Stankevičius, Arvydas Novikovas and goalkeeper Žydrūnas Karčemarskas all miss out.
Zenit striker Artem Dyzuba was Russia's star man in qualifying, scoring eight goals that saw his side safely through to the competition in France this summer. I'm tempted to go for him to score first, though he may not start this one as Slutsky might give Krasnodar's Fyodor Smolov another chance up front as he did against Croatia, so an anytime goalscorer bet may be a better choice (of course, if you go for Dzyuba to score first and he isn't on the pitch when the first goal goes in you'll get your stake back with most bookmakers). For the Zenit man to score anytime the best odds you'll find are Evens with Betfair; for him to score first you can get 16/5 with the same bookmaker.
My first Russia vs Lithuania prediction is for Dzyuba to score first and the best odds are 16/5 with Betfair.

This should be an easy victory for the home side as they warm up for their Euro 2016 Group B matches against England, Wales and Slovakia. Russia have won eight of their last ten games at home to nil, whilst Lithuania haven't scored in their last four defeats on the road. The odds for Russia to win to nil aren't worth it, the best you'll find is 7/10, so instead get on Russia minus 2 with Paddy Power at 11/5 which is my next betting tip for Russia vs Lithuania.

For my final Russia vs Lithuania prediction, I'm going for Russia to win both halves. I'm expecting a comfortable home win, so at 28/17 with 888sport I think this is a pretty sure-fire bet.
