QPR vs Derby Betting Tips and Predictions

QPR v Derby predictions and betting tips for tonight’s Championship fixture with the best three bets picked out from out betting preview.

Derby continue their quest for automatic promotion as they visit West London to take on QPR. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side will be looking to bounce back from their weekend defeat at MK Dons. We’ve got the best bets for the 7:45 kick off.

QPR vs Derby Predictions

Derby’s mini resurgence didn’t last long as they were defeated by Wolves last weekend. But, they put in a professional performance on Saturday against Huddersfield to collect maximum points. They’ve only conceded five goals in seven matches, but considering the money they have spent and the wealth of striking option available to them, they should be scoring more.

Darren Wassall hailed opponents Huddersfield on Saturday and said they made life tough for Derby, but his side eventually came through the challenge. This won’t be easy either as QPR are fairly solid at Loftus Road.

They’ve been better defensively under the tutelage of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and have only lost twice in the last eight, but there’s still an inconsistency about them that must be infuriating for the fans. JFH laid into his side following their unexpected defeat at MK Dons and he will be looking to put that right here. QPR are better than that loss and every time they are expected to win (similar to Fulham at home) they bottle it.

They have some very talented players and the likes of Matt Phillips could easily make the step up. But, January signing Connor Washington is still looking for his first goal in blue and white hoops.

Barren runs do happen in the Championship though – Derby forward Chris Martin went 11 games without finding the net, but has now scored three in four and has gained the praise of his manager for rediscovering his scoring touch.

Despite signing Darren Bent, Andreas Weimann and Nick Blackman, it’s Martin who is shining and the former Norwich frontman is now on 12 goals for the season.

Ranger’s top scorer, Charlie Austin has since left the club and the aforementioned Matt Phillips sits in second with seven. Tjarron Chery has started scoring again after a goalless few months, but they simply don’t possess enough firepower and that’s something JFH will have to put that right in the summer. Just six goals in seven games is not good enough for this side.

Another striker who hasn’t been weighing in with goals is Sebastian Polter, who took to Twitter to apologise to fans at the weekend.

Having beaten Birmingham in their last home game, I think Rangers can bounce back and frustrate Derby. The Rams lost to Wolves in their last away outing and have only won once in their last six away games. I think this one could end all square for my football predictions on tonight’s match.

My first QPR v Derby prediction is for the match to end in a draw. This can be backed at 12/5 with Bet365.

Derby have kept things tight at home, keeping clean sheets in their last two matches at the iPro, but away from home they have been more open. There have been seven goals in their last two away matches and both teams have scored in five of their last six outings on the road. My second QPR v Derby betting tip is for Both Teams to Score? Yes.

As we mentioned, Chris Martin has been praised by his manager this week for his goalscoring streak. I think he can continue his fine form here and climb towards that magic 20 mark so he’s the bet for my anytime goalscorer tip tonight. My third QPR v Derby betting tip is for Chris Martin to score anytime. He can be backed at 2/1 with Ladbrokes.
