Poland vs Northern Ireland betting tips for the opening Euro 2016 fixture in Group C for both of these teams – our tipster has picked the best three bets.
Northern Ireland take part in their first international tournament since 1986 and they face a tough task against Poland in their first Group C game, taking place on Sunday 12th June at 5:00pm. I’ve picked out the three best bets for this one.
Poland v Northern Ireland Betting Tips
Poland to win and over 2.5 goals – 21/10 at Betfair.
Since co-hosting the European Championships in 2012, where they had a poor time of it, Poland have improved dramatically. They scored 33 goals in Euro 2016 qualifying for this tournament, more than any other side, and amassed 21 points, just one behind World Cup holders Germany. They actually beat the Germans during that qualifying campaign and they face each other in this group too. Whilst Germany are favourites to win the Group C, Poland shouldn’t be underestimated and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them reach at least the quarter finals. Northern Ireland had a fantastic qualifying campaign and the fact they’re in France is an achievement in itself. They’re of course the underdogs in this Group but the pressure is off Michael O’Neil’s men and they might cause an upset. For me, though, that won’t happen here. Poland are a strong side, they’re in good form and they possess one of the best strikers in the world in Robert Lewandowski. Not saying it will be easy, and with an excellent defensive record in qualifying Northern Ireland will be tough to break down but I think Poland will score and once they get one the chances are they’ll get a few.
Poland to win both halves – 4/1 at bet365.
For Poland to do well in this tournament a lot rests on the shoulders of Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski. He scored 30 goals last season as his side lifted the Bundesliga title and goes into this tournament in red hot form. For his country, he’s netted 34 goals in 75 games, and I think he’ll add a few to that tally here. He’s key to Poland, and I think that will show in this game. As I say, once Poland get the first I think they’ll get a few and at 4/1, I think a few quid for Adam Nawałka’s men to win both halves won’t be far wrong for my second Poland vs Northern Ireland betting tip.
Poland to score three or more – 7/2 at Coral.
On paper this looks a comfortable Poland victory and I think on the pitch that’s how it will play out too. I think as the game goes on Poland will just have too much for their Northern Ireland counterparts and net a few to challenge Germany in the quest to finish top of the group.
