Over 2.5 Goals Tips this Weekend
Cardiff v Derby
Derby are still in the hunt for the play-offs and they travel to the Cardiff City Stadium in the hunt for an away win. Their last away trip was a 3-3 against Rotherham, a game in which they comfortably led. They still leak goals and that should play into Cardiff’s hands. Russell Slade’s side had a slip up against Leeds, but they’ve scored seven goals in their last four games and they were imperious going forward against Brighton. They have goals in them and they should test the Derby defence. There have been 5 goals in the last four away matches involving the Rams and this one could also be a goal-fest. 28 of Cardiff’s goals have been scored at home whilst 22 of Derby’s 35 goals conceded have been away from home.
Bolton v Reading
There’s been plenty of goals involving Bolton recently and they’ve been mostly against them. They conceded six away at Bristol City last time out. There have been twelve goals in their last four home matches, including a 2-2 draw and two 1-2 losses. The last time Reading were away at a member of the bottom three, they won 3-4 at the Valley. They weren’t able to score at Brighton, but they have been defensively strong recently. They have been shipping goals themselves recently and I think both sides will score here. At the Macron, Bolton generally score at least one goal, but they often concede double that amount.
Gillingham v Coventry
Both of these sides were looking good for promotion in the first half of the season, but Coventry have dropped out alarmingly whilst Gillingham are still in with a shout. Gillingham are unbeaten in four and hit three in their last home match. The last three home matches involving Justin Edinburgh’s side have all featured three goals and we’re hoping it’s the same again for the Gills. Coventry are seemingly having problems scoring, but Adam Armstrong is rumoured to be fit again for this one and if he is, they should start converting some the chances they’ve been creating. They had numerous opportunities at Peterborough, but only finished one of them. If they continue at that rate, they should give Gillingham some problems.
Rochdale v Doncaster
Two sides going in opposite directions as Rochdale are keeping their play-off hopes alive whilst Donny are starting to drift away after 11 losses in 12. Keith Hill’s side were down to 10 men and lost to Wigan last time out, but at home they’ve hit 10 goals in their last four matches including four against play-off chasing Southend. Donny lost to relegation threatened Blackpool last time out and Darren Ferguson is clinging on to his job in South Yorkshire. They’ve conceded 10 goals in their last four matches away from home and they will surely be carved open by Rochdale at Spotland. It’s a hard place to travel to at the best of times, but when you’re out of form, it’s not going to be pretty for the visitors.
Bristol Rovers v Crawley
Bristol Rovers slipped up against Carlisle on Monday, but it was another high-scoring match for the Gas. They’ve now hit nine goals in the last three matches including three here against Cambridge last time out. They’ve only hit a single goal or less twice in the last eight and with Matty Taylor on fine form and Billy Bodin chipping in with a few recently, they should put a few past Crawley. Crawley conceded two at Leyton Orient and were involved in a high-scoring 2-2 draw with York most recently. Their away form isn’t great, but they do score a few goals and with Rovers committing defensive errors in Cumbria, Crawley could nick one here.
