Over 2.5 Goals Accumulator Tips

Colchester v Doncaster

It looks like it could be curtains for Colchester sooner or later as League Two is beginning to close in on the Essex club. Losing a one goal lead away at Walsall last weekend was a huge blow to their faint hopes of staying afloat. They face the league’s out-of-form club as Doncaster visit the Western Homes Community Stadium. Darren Ferguson’s men are scrapping for their lives and both sides will be desperate to get on the scoresheet. Colchester have conceded eight goals in their last four matches in the league, but they also scored three times here against Wigan. They do have goals in them, but defending has been a real issue this season and any side who concedes 86 goals by late March is going to have to fairly potent in order to survive. Doncaster have let nine goals past them in their last five matches and have conceded in each of their last ten League One games. There could be plenty of goals here as a draw will do neither side any good.

Shrewsbury v Port Vale

Shrewsbury have put together an unbeaten run at just the right time of the season. It’s now eight unbeaten for the Shropshire club and it has helped put daylight between themselves and the bottom four. There have been 12 goals in their last four home matches and if they continue that average then we can tick this match off on our accumulator. Each of their last three matches have featured three or more goals and we’re hoping that run continues. Port Vale are no strangers to goals either with their last three away gamed averaging 11 goals and their last three matches in League One also featuring three or more goals. They’ve conceded in each of their last six away matches and have conceded 60% of their goals away from home. Shrewsbury have only kept one clean sheet in their last four whilst Vale have only kept their opponents out once in the last six.

Northampton v Newport

Northampton can already plan for life in League One next season. It would take an almighty slump for the Cobblers not to secure promotion from this position. They are 17 points clear of 4th place and they showed tremendous spirit to comeback from 2-0 down against Stevenage last weekend. The comeback was complete in the 95th minute with a Ricky Holmes wonder goal. Newport have been in decent-ish form themselves under Warren Feeney. They beat Portsmouth 0-3 in their last away game and have previously beaten Morecambe 2-1 at the Globe. There are still problems at the back as they shipped four in their derby with Bristol Rovers last weekend. Northampton have plenty of firepower and with Marc Richards out injured, they still have John Marquis and James Collins to find the back of the net. They should bag a few here.

Oxford v Stevenage

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, Stevenage showed tremendous spirit to run leaders Northampton close last Saturday. They almost snatched a point, despite going down to 10 men. They are playing another high flyer here as Oxford look to boost their own automatic promotion hopes at the Kassam. Michael Appleton’s side have hit seven goals in their last two matches and they should be able to help themselves to a few here. With Jordan Bowery, Danny Hylton, Kemar Roofe all scoring regularly and Callum O’Dowda rediscovering his goalscoring touch, they should put a few past lowly Stevenage. Their home form hasn’t been much to write home about, but they have scored nine in their last three games here. Stevenage have conceded in each of their last 18 games in League Two and with Oxford’s confidence sky high, I can see Stevenage being on the wrong end of a thumping.

Exeter v Barnet

Our final selection also comes from League Two and from St James’ Park. Exeter are now unbeaten in five and Paul Tisdale can be praised for another magnificent season in the South West. They’ve hit six in their last two matches and could continue that scoring run here. Barnet started the season solid at home, but hopeless on the road. They’ve since reversed that trend and are now effective away from home, but unreliable at the Hive. They’ve scored eight times in their last four away matches and could give the Grecians something to think about. With both teams firing at the moment, this one could end up 2-2 or perhaps 3-2 either way.
