There’s plenty of fixtures to get stuck into on Tuesday 12th January and we’re hoping to see a plethora of goals produced as a result. Here’s our suggestions for matches for your over 2.5 goals accumulator.

Over 2.5 Goals Accumulator Tips

Huddersfield v Charlton

Huddersfield are playing some decent football under David Wagner and it must be pleasing for the Terriors fans to watch. They are back at the John Smith’s stadium as they host struggling Charlton. They were fluid going forward in their 3-1 victory over Preston here last time out and they scored twice past Bolton Wanderers more recently. They are still a little susceptible defensively and they will miss the presence of Ben Chilwell, who is back at Leicester after a loan spell. They should be able to find a way past one of the leakiest defences in the division though. The Addicks conceded twice to League One strugglers Colchester in the FA Cup on Saturday and they won’t relish playing against Nahki Wells, Harry Bunn etc. The West Yorkshire side have scored at least one goal in each of their last seven games whilst Charlton have scored in two of the last three away matches.

MK Dons v Burnley

The Dons tend to excel at Stadium:MK and they have won their last two league fixtures here by the same scoreline – 2-1. Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday were the victims of those three point hauls and this one could easily contain three or more goals. Burnley haven’t been able to find their shooting boots on the road recently, but they’ve been facing much tougher opposition in the shape of Middlesbrough and Hull City. The Dons have not kept a clean sheet for seven matches and despite the speculation about his future – Burnley should line up with Andre Gray in the team. The Clarets put two past usually thrifty Middlesbrough in the cup and they should be feeling confident in front of goal. They hit four past Charlton and Bristol City, both of whom only lie a couple of places below MK Dons in the Championship table.

Man Utd 6s Newcastle

Ipswich v Leeds

Earlier in the season, this would have been a banker for a low scoring affair, but both teams have started playing with increased confidence and scoring goals as a result so it goes into our over 2.5 goals accumulator tip. Ipswich won their last game at Portman Road 2-1, seeing off QPR. They drew 2-2 with Portsmouth in the FA Cup in an end-to-end topsy-turvy match and this one could go a similar way. Leeds have improved under Steve Evans with many eyes looking towards the play-offs. They are now seven unbeaten and have scored in six of those. Just two clean sheets in eight though suggests there are still issues at the back that can be improved. Historically, whenever Leeds visit Suffolk, there are usually goals as 4-1, 1-2, 3-0, 2-1 and 2-1 have been the last five scorelines here and we should a similar story this time around.

Wigan v Sheffield United

Wigan sealed a dramatic win over Gillingham with a last gasp winner to take the match 3-2 on Thursday night and they continue their decent run and love of late strikes. You may remember earlier in the season, they also came back from two down to beat Chesterfield. They certainly can score goals – Michael Jacobs, Will Grigg, Max Power and the now-permanently signed Yannik Wildschut are all a threat going forward. Sheffield United had been playing well until their 3-2 defeat to Peterborough last time out. Another side who have firepower when needed and this should be a thoroughly decent game with plenty of action.

Plymouth v Northampton

There’s a couple of games in League Two tonight as well and this could be a cracker. Both sides are going well in the fourth tier and will hope to be battling up there at the top end in May. Northampton held their near neighbours MK Dons to a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup at the weekend and in their last away outing, they beat Luton 4-3. There have been 17 goals in their last four matches on the road and you would like to think this one will go the same way. Plymouth had been meandering their way through an inconsistent spell, but they’ve won four on the bounce now and they will be a force coming forward. The Pilgrims have found the net in each of their last 11 games in League Two and should give a Northampton defence, who have shipped 17 of their 28 goals this season on the road, something to think about.
