After being under pressure going into the East Midlands derby, Dougie Freedman has not only bought himself some time, but he’s seemingly turned things around in Nottingham, will Forest beat Leeds today?
Nottm Forest v Leeds Predictions
Forest looked to heading for another season of nothingness as yet another injury crisis seemingly engulfed the City Ground and they struggled to put together a consistent string of results. The tricky trees are now unbeaten in five and have won three of those, all of which have been here.
They’ve been dealt a blow this week as Daniel Pinillos is out for the season, but it’s the other Freedman signings – Nelson Oliveira and Ryan Mendes who have seemingly has the largest effect on lifting the team.
It’s all smiles on the Trent, but they come up against a team, who have been having a resurgence of their own under the ‘charismatic’ Steve Evans. These two sides sit 4th and 5th in the current form table and it should be a decently contested game.
The good news for the home fans is that Leeds haven’t won here in their last three attempts and these two sides have seen each other regularly for a number of seasons now.
Leeds beat ten man Preston at Elland Road on Sunday and that followed on from an impressive victory at Molineux. They suffered a late scare though as Wolves scored a late goal and gave the Whites a fright in the final few minutes.
Leeds have won five of their last eight games and are looking a decent prospect, particularly away from home. Perhaps Uwe Rosler’s tactics were too negative, as Evans hasn’t made great swathes of changes but bringing in Liam Bridcutt to add stability to the central midfield area has certainly improved their defensive record.
They are looking up the table, rather than down, which has been a rarity in recent years for Leeds fans and they are quite rightly enjoying watching their team of late.
Forest haven’t lost at home since the 3rd of October and they will difficult to beat here. Leeds have only lost twice away from home all season, one of those to top of the table Middlesbrough and likewise, won’t roll over In this one.
It seems a sensible play to back the draw here with both sides in very impressive form and playing with plenty of confidence.

Leeds may have been keeping a few clean sheets recently, but they still managed to concede twice to Wolves and they still have a few problems keeping the more potent sides out. They appear to be able to get around these problems by outscoring their opponents. They didn’t concede on Sunday, but that was against a side who had their goalkeeper dismissed. For my next Championship prediction I note Forest have only failed to score once in their last seven games, but that was against defensively sound Blackburn. I think both sides will score here.

Nelson Oliveira is the favourite in the goalscoring market, which is no surprise as he has been in decent form recently. He’s found the net in three of Forest’s last four home games, including the memorable strike after just five minutes which won them the East Midlands derby. I wouldn’t put anyone off backing him to find the net in this one.
