Liverpool v Leicester City predictions and betting tips for the Boxing Day Premier League clash between the surprise leaders and strugglers.
There's a huge game in the Premier League on Boxing Day as high-flying Leicester travel to Merseyside to for second successive week to take on Liverpool. The game gets underway at 3pm and here are our match predictions and betting tips.
Liverpool v Leicester Predictions
Following their remarkable victory away to Manchester City a month ago, Liverpool were being touted from all corners as being genuine top four contenders, with perhaps even a chance of the league title itself. How much things can change in the space of a few games. The Reds have taken one point from their last three matches and now sit closer to the relegation zone than they do the league summit.
Although the loss away to Newcastle could be deemed slightly unfortunate – following a freak own goal and a harshly disallowed equaliser from Alberto Moreno – the more recent slip ups to West Brom and Watford were certainly not results Jurgen Klopp will have been particularly proud of. Last weekend's loss to the Hornets was as bad a performance as I've seen from Liverpool in a long time. They were absolutely toothless in front of goal, hapless at the back, and deserved to lose by a heavier scoreline than they did.
In stark contrast, Leicester City's remarkable season keeps hitting new heights. The Foxes are two points clear at the top of the table, with a nine-point cushion in the Champions League places. They are currently unbeaten in their last ten matches and have won eight of those along the way. It really is the stuff of dreams for Claudio Ranieri's men.
Nevertheless, Leicester do still have some tricky games to negotiate over Christmas if they are to keep this amazing run going. With back to back victories against Chelsea and Everton already in the bag, The Foxes face successive fixtures against Liverpool, Manchester City, in-form Bournemouth and Spurs. If they can take a nice handful of points from these games and keep hold of the likes of Vardy, Mahrez and Kante in the transfer window, the sky is the limit for Leicester City.
Heading into the clash and Liverpool are 19/10 favourites to take the three points. Leicester can be backed at 3/1, with the draw on offer at 14/5.
This is one of those games where nothing would surprise me. The Reds looked to have kicked on following Klopp's appointment, but almost look as bad now as they were under Rodgers. Leicester are deserved leaders of the Premier League, but do concede a lot of goals and have not beaten Liverpool in their last six encounters. I may get hung out to dry for this, but I fancy Liverpool to finally put the breaks on Leicester's fine run.
My first Liverpool v Leicester prediction is for Liverpool to win. The best odds for Liverpool to beat Leicester are 19/20 with Bet365.

Moving over to the both teams to score market and I see this as being a shoe-in for a BTTS result. At odds of 8/13 it is probably not the most rewarding price in the world but 82% of Leicester's games have finished this way so far this campaign and they have scored three goals in their last four away games. It's a bit of longshot but have a crack at both teams to score in both halves at 12/1 with Sky Bet. Statistically, it's as good an opportunity as ever for a 12/1 shot.
My next Liverpool v Leicester betting tip is for both teams to score in both halves at a best priced 9/1 with Sky Bet.
Get 5/1 for Liverpool, Man City and Spurs to win at SKY BET (normal odds 5/2).
Finally, for a punt in the goalscoring market, and who knows what team Jurgen Klopp will roll out this week. However, Leicester City will have a far more predictable line-up vs Liverpool and it would take a brave person to bet against the league's top scorer Jamie Vardy.
What are the best odds for Jamie Vardy to score against Liverpool? For my final prediction on Liverpool v Leicester back Vardy to score anytime in the match and fantastic odds of 15/8 with Betfred. Based on his recent form, that is an absolute bargain of a price.
