Premier League Predictions Norwich v Liverpool

Norwich were well beaten away at fellow strugglers Bournemouth last weekend with a result that leaves the Canaries just two points above the relegation zone. One of their problems this season is a lack of a decent goalscorer, Nathan Redmond leads their scoring charts with just four goals so far this campaign. They've turned to Steven Naismith and the former Everton man could make his debut in this one (he's 15/4 to score anytime with Ladbrokes if you fancy it). Alex Neil has been busy in this January transfer window, adding Timm Klose, Ivo Pinto and Ben Godfrey to the ranks and signing Matt Jarvis on a permanent deal, Klose and Pinto could also make their debuts here.

Liverpool recently have been, well, Liverpool. A gamblers nightmare. A thrilling 3-3 draw with Arsenal was sandwiched in-between League defeats to West Ham and Manchester United, though also in that run they beat Stoke at the Britannia in the First Leg of the League Cup Semi-Final and eventually saw off Exeter in the FA Cup. It's hard to predict which Liverpool side will turn up.

The truth is that without Philippe Coutinho Liverpool are just an average team. There are a couple of good players there, Roberto Firmino has put in some good performances recently, but they're far from challenging for major honours like many said they would be when Jurgen Klopp arrived. Whilst Liverpool go into this game as favourites, for y football betting tips this weekend I think they'll find their trip to Norfolk a tough one.

Norwich have been poor away recently, but at Carrow Road they've been pretty good of late. Of the last five at home, they've won three, keeping clean sheets in each of those victories, and drew the other two. I think another three points will be theirs here. With Liverpool in action this week in the FA Cup, albeit playing a young side, the home side have had more time to prepare and Liverpool could also have one eye on the Second Leg against Stoke next week. It will be tough though, and I don't think they'll stop Klopp's side from scoring, but I think they're worth a shout for the win here.

I don't think Norwich will go all out on the attack, I think they'll play safe at first and keep possession. Although Liverpool flatter to deceive at times, they are excellent on the counter attack so Alex Neil will have to counteract this.  Norwich do have players of their own who can cause problems, Wes Hoolahan and Robbie Brady going forward have been very good and Redmond can be a handful on his day so they'll be plenty for the away side's back line to deal with. At the other end though, a problem Norwich have had this season is defending from crosses. They've conceded 14 goals this season from crosses into the box alone, the worst record in the League. The form of Christian Benteke has been called into question many times this season, he's been used as a sub in most League games recently but he could cause problems here if Liverpool change the way they attack a little and try and take advantage down the wings.

My second betting tip for Norwich City v Liverpool is for Benteke to score anytime, Bet Victor are offering the best odds of 29/20 for this bet.

For my third football tip, I'm going in the overs market and predict there will be over 2.5 goals at Carrow Road. I'm tempted to go with the 15/1 BetVictor are offering for 2-1 Norwich, but seeing as this is Liverpool, the most unpredictable of sides, the safer bet is to go with the 23/20 the same bookmaker is offering for over 2.5 goals. Or do what I do and get on both…
