If it hadn’t been for Troy Deeney turning in a Bastian Schweinsteiger cross-come-shot to give United a slender 2-1 victory, I would probably be writing a very different preview of Man United v PSV! LVG’s side keep finding ways to win however, and I expect it will be the same scenario Old Trafford in this Champions League fixture.

 

Having lost in Eindhoven in the reverse fixture back in September, United will want to get one over the Dutch side. It was also the match that Luke Shaw suffered his season ending injury, which ultimately overshadowed the result. This time around, the Red Devils know that a victory is crucial in order to help them secure qualification to the next stage of the Champions League.

 

Man United are unbeaten in their last eight European fixtures at Old Trafford, which dates back to March 2013, so it will be a surprise if PSV are able to bring that run to an end this week.

 

LVG’s side currently top the group with seven points, one more than PSV and Wolfsburg, and three more than bottom-placed CSKA Moscow.

 

Domestically, PSV are on a positive run in the Eredivisie as they have only suffered one defeat in 13 league fixtures.
