Ipswich v Hull City Predictions

It’s two goalless draws for the visitors and leaders Hull as they were frustrated by Brighton’s doggedness. They hit the bar late on and were extremely unlucky not to extend their lead at the top of the table.

They are on the road here as they visit Portman Road, a notoriously hard place to go. Hull’s away form is a mixed, their last six games reading won three, lost three. Surprise defeats at Rotherham and Preston were followed by a defeat at Turf Moor. Steve Bruce’s side have been marvellous at the KC though and remain defensively sound.

Ipswich have lost three of the last four, but all those defeats have been away. They’ve picked up 10 points from a possible 12 at home, as they bounced back from two defeats in front of their own fans.

They’ve only lost three times here all season, they’ve all been to top 6 sides – Derby, Middlesbrough and Brighton. They will be difficult to dispatch and it won’t be a case of simply turning up for the Tigers. The Tractor Boys have drawn six of their 15 games at home this season and would be higher up in the table if they could turn some of them into wins.

Despite the return of Jonathon Douglas, Ipswich still have a number of injury worries ahead of this clash. Cole Skuse, David McGoldrick and Giles Coke remain absent whilst Ryan Fraser is also struggling with an injury. Hull have the luxury of alternating players for their various matches after playing three games in eight days. Bruce made 10 changes against Arsenal and they still managed to stop the Gunners scoring. Robert Snodgrass, Allan McGregor and Sam Clucas are all likely to return for this match in what looks a very strong Hull team.

Hull’s defence will be bolstered by the return of Michael Dawson and successive clean sheets mean it’s now just three goals conceded this calendar year with seven clean sheets in nine games.

Although missing McGoldrick and Fraser, you would expect a side boasting Pittman, Murphy and Sears to score more goals than they do. They do possess a very good record here on a Tuesday night under the floodlights and I think they can grab a point here.

My first Ipswich v Hull City prediction for tonight is for the match to end a Draw. It can be backed at 23/10 with Betfred.

It’s a short price, but I think this one will be a low scoring match again for my next football prediction. Hull’s last four matches have all gone unders and five of their last six have also fallen under the three goal mark. Ipswich not so much, only two of their last five have fallen under, but I think they could be stifled by the Hull defence.

My second Ipswich v Hull City betting tip is for Under 2.5 goals. It can be backed at 8/15 with William Hill.

Abel Hernandez is the clear favourite in the goalscorer market, but it’s slightly better value to back Brett Pittman who has scored nine goals this season, including two in the last three. He’s also the scorer of Ipswich’s last two goals in the league.

My third football betting tip for Ipswich v Hull City tonight is an anytime goalscorer tip and I’m backing Brett Pittman to score anytime. He can be backed at 29/10 with 888Sport.
