Ipswich v Middlesbrough Betting Tips, Preview and Predictions

Ipswich v Middlesbrough betting tips and predictions for Friday night’s Sky Bet Championship fixture and the best odds for our three football tips.

Friday night football comes from Portman Road as a rejuvenated Ipswich take on 2nd place Middlesbrough. Boro don’t have a good record here and have lost 4-0, 3-1 and 2-0 on their last few visits will Middlesbrough bounce back from the defeat to Everton and win against Ipswich this week?

Ipswich v Middlesbrough Predictions

It’s a tough place to visit for most sides in the league and it’s a long journey for those Middlesbrough fans on a Friday night. Ipswich turned on the style as they beat Charlton 3-0 at the weekend with a double from the re-born Daryl Murphy. They went through a slightly inconsistent patch, but appear to have come out the other side and under Mick McCarthy, you know you will always get a side who work hard and battle for one another.

They’ve now won three of the last four and are looking a real threat to claim at least a play-off place come the end of the season.

Middlesbrough pick up plenty of points, but they have struggled against sides in the top six. They lost to Reading and Hull, but they do easily pick off the likes of Huddersfield, Charlton and Rotherham.

Aitor Karanka has been criticised for his team selections, resting key players and he may be tempted to shuffle things around once more after the midweek exertions of the Capital One Cup against Everton.

They weren’t completely convincing against Huddersfield by all accounts, but they got the job done. The Terriers are going through a transition period though under new coach David Wagner and Ipswich are likely to offer more threat moving forward.

Middlesbrough have only conceded 12 goals all season, displaying another season of solid defence, but they’ve conceded 10 of those on the road. Saturday’s 2-0 victory was their first clean sheet on their travels.

The Tractor Boys have only lost once at home all season, that was to unbeaten Brighton, who came here, won 2-3 and took home all of the points. I think they will definitely get something from this match.

My first football betting tip for Ipswich v Middlesbrough is Ipswich Draw No Bet. It can be backed at 21/20 with William Hill.

Over/Under 2.5 goals tip – Middlesbrough’s defence is solid and they are unlikely to ship more than a couple of goals, even to an Ipswich side that possess the energy of Freddie Sears and the finishing of Daryl Murphy. Ipswich meanwhile have kept clean sheets in three of their last four home matches and won’t be an easy target for Boro, who failed to score at The KC, Cardiff City Stadium & The Majeski.

My second Ipswich v Middlesbrough prediction is for Under 2.5 goals. The best odds for under 2.5 goals are 8/11 with Betfred.

Anytime goalscorer tip – The aforementioned Daryl Murphy had a dry spell, but he’s back amongst the goals now and his natural instinct will pay dividends for Ipswich. Although the Boro defence will be keeping an eye on him, he can always find the perfect space for a finish.

My third Ipswich v Middlesbrough betting tip is for Daryl Murphy to score anytime. The best odds for this week’s anytime goalscorer tip are 23/20 with Betfair.
