Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich takes place at 10pm on Saturday 30th July from the International Champions Cup and our preview includes three betting tips.
Bayern have a busy pre-season schedule as they currently spend time in the USA. After facing AC Milan, they move on to their Serie A and city rivals Inter at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bayern Munich
Temperatures will be high as Carlo Ancellotti’s side continue their preparations ahead of the new Bundesliga season. An experimental line-up was named for the Manchester City friendly when Pep came back to the Allianz Arena last week. David Alaba, Phillip Lahm and Franck Ribery were all named in the starting 11, but it was the significantly less well-known Erdal Ozturk who popped up with the winner 15 minutes from time. They looked unstoppable going forward and should have added more goals in the 90 minutes.
They were involved in a thriller on Thursday morning, which saw the aforementioned Franck Ribery get on the scoresheet twice. Despite the Frenchman’s magic, they couldn’t see off AC Milan and lost on penalties. Rafinha missed the 4th spot-kick for the Germans and Vincenzo Montella’s side were deadly from 12 yards, converting all five.
Once again, it was a reasonably strong side named by Ancelotti. Xabi Alonso was pulling the strings in the middle of the park whilst David Alaba found the net after 38 minutes. Real Madrid await in the final match of the International Champions Cup on the 4th of August.
Inter Milan
Inter don’t have fond memories of the International Champions Cup losing both matches in China ahead of last season. They were beaten by AC Milan before being dispatched by Real Madrid. They’ll be hoping for much better this time around. The Serie A season isn’t far away and Roberto Mancini will be keen to ramp up preparations ahead of the new campaign.
The former Man City boss has already spoken about taking this tournament seriously, so any travelling fans should expect their side to give it their all in this fixture. They got off to a bad start though losing 1-3 to French Champions PSG. Two goals from Serge Aurier saw off a mini-Inter fightback. Stefan Jovetic was on the scoresheet with a penalty on the stroke of half time. They were hard to breakdown for the large part of last season, with an impressive array of 1-0 wins. They will need to be back at their defensive best here with plenty of firepower in the Bayern side. Their only pre-season victory so far came over MLS side Real Salt Lake.
Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich Predictions
I can’t see past a Bayern win here. They’ve been in much better form than Inter during their pre-season games and the victory over Man City was a decent yardstick. They’re a short price, but if Ancelotti’s side can replicate their recent offensive performances they shouldn’t have any problems. Franck Ribery has been in flying form in pre-season and seems to found life under Ancelotti enjoyable. He seems a good bet to continue his decent form and is likely to get another start here.
