The International Champions Cup holds another high profile game on Saturday when Real Madrid face Chelsea in Michigan and our betting preview includes two tips.

This will only be Real Madrid’s second pre-season game so far following their 3-1 loss to PSG and they are behind Chelsea in terms of match sharpness as the blues have already played three times. These results have been indifferent though with a 2-0 loss to Rapid Wien and although they beat Wolfsberger AC 3-0, two of these goals came in the last five minutes. The 1-0 win against Liverpool is certainly a morale boosting victory and one that Conte would have been pleased with.

There are only two notable absentees from new boss Antonio Conte’s squad to America and that is John Obi Mikel who has been called up to play for Nigeria in the Olympics and N’golo Kante who has been given an extended holiday after his exploits in Euro 2016, but apart from these two Conte has a full squad to choose from. 

 

Diego Costa will have a point to prove after being poor in the previous two friendlies and he would love another memorable battle with the Madrid back line after being involved in so many when playing for Atletico a few years back. Costa may be up against an inexperienced backline at some point in this game and I wouldn’t be surprised if he grabbed a goal against his old arch-rivals.

As for Zinedine Zidane’s men, he has bought a strong squad with him for the games in the USA with the likes of Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata eager to impress whilst superstars Gareth Bale and Cristano Ronaldo are still on their holidays. Both Benzema and Morata will be trying to impress Zidane and show that they are worthy of the number 9 role at the Bernabeu next season and I can see them both having an impressive tour.

 

Chelsea vs Real Madrid Predictions

As with all friendlies, I expect both managers to try new players and new formations throughout the game which can lead to goals and a more entertaining game. I strongly fancy a bet on both teams to score in this game but with odds of 4/7, this isn’t worth backing. A more appealing bet for my first Chelsea vs Real Madrid prediction in my eyes is both teams to score in the first half with odds of 14/5 at Bet Victor.

As for a correct score prediction in this game, I do believe that although Madrid have the better players, Chelsea are in a better position in terms of match fitness and sharpness and this can sometimes show in friendlies so I do expect an even game with a few goals.
