Hull City vs Wolves betting tips and Championship predictions for the fixture on Friday 15th April 2016 including the best odds for our tipsters’ three bets.
One of two Championship matches on Friday night as Wolves travel to the KC Stadium and we’ve picked out the best bets. Hull will have to settle for play-offs after losing ground in the automatic promotion race, Steve Bruce’s men welcome Wolves to Humberside.
Hull vs Wolves Preview
Hull City
A few months ago, Hull looked certainties for promotion and a return to the Premier League, but sadly for Tigers fans, they’ve dropped too many points and Burnley, Brighton and Middlesbrough have broken away from the rest of the pack. It’s not impossible of course, but there is now an eight-point gap between themselves and the 3rd place Seagulls.
Both Middlesbrough and Brighton scored in stoppage time to earn victories this week, Hull also left it late against Huddersfield, but that goal was simply to avoid defeat. Seven points clear of Cardiff, it seems there is little danger of missing out on the play-offs with just a handful of games to play. Hull have a game in hand (v Brentford) on the rest of the pack and there will be plenty of jostling for position between now and the end of the season.
Although they’ve avoided defeat in their last 10 games here, just one win in four is a poor return for a side who looked so composed and assured earlier in the season. True, avoiding defeat is important, but they’ve had an inability to finish teams off lately and their strikers haven’t been producing the goods.
Steve Bruce has been linked with the Aston Villa job and you can sense increasing frustration from the former Sunderland boss. They will be a force to be reckoned with in the play-offs though and as long as they don’t turn in a performance like the recent 4-0 defeat at Derby, they should make it to Wembley.
Wolves
Wolves have little to play for. Injuries derailed their season from the moment Nouah Dicko was declared absent for the rest of the season. New signing Michael Zyro has already had a fair few injury problems and there have been far too many disruptions to a season many had hoped could be a successful one.
At least they can build for the next campaign with Jordan Graham and the aforementioned Dicko likely to play a bigger part. They have a number of younger players who will benefit from another year’s experience at Championship level and there is plenty to be look forward to in the 2016-17 season.
They currently sit in 13th place and arrive unbeaten in six. A defeat to Middlesbrough the only blip in their last eight games. Kenny Jackett has come under a bit of stick this season, but there’s no doubt, he’s the best man to have in charge. He’s level headed and a safe pair of hands and the younger members of the team will benefit from his tutelage.
Kenny Jackett has come out and said he knows what Wolves need next season to challenge for the play-offs. The fans who booed his side on Saturday will be hoping he’s right.
Hull vs Wolves Team News
Hull City will be without Mo Diame. The midfielder has been a regular fixture in the team this season, but won’t make the eleven on Friday night due to a thigh injury. He is the second highest scorer for the Tigers this season and will be a huge loss. Michael Dawson is another absentee and his lack of presence always rocks Hull as they look vulnerable at the back without him.
Steve Bruce was impressed with Adama Diomande after his contribution against Huddersfield and he could be given a start here as Hull desperately look to add more goals to their games.
Kenny Jackett has this week said he would like a battle for every position in his team. He has a few options for this game. With nothing to play for, it could be the chance to give the likes of Bright Enobakare a chance.
Dave Edwards has declared himself back for this and fit, but he may be left on the bench as he builds up his fitness. Kevin McDonald has been training with the youth team this week and has been linked with a move North of the Border, so it’s unlikely he will feature here.
Hull vs Wolves Predictions
Many people will be happy to back Hull because of their loftier position and the fact they’re playing a side with nothing to play for. But, I can’t have faith in a side who have won just two games from the last 10 and just one in the last eight for my football tips on the Championship fixture.
For all their lack of creativity, Wolves look fairly solid and if they can get it right at the business end, they could be a very dangerous prospect. They’ve only scored three goals in the last five, but they’ve also only conceded two. They recently held Burnley to a draw and I think they can do the same here. My first Hull vs Wolves prediction is for the match to end a draw.
The best odds for Hull vs Wolves to be a draw are 16/5 at Bet Victor.
With Wolves’ lack of goals and Hulls stuttering form, I don’t think this one is going to be full of goals. Hull hit four against Bristol City but they’d only managed one goal in each of their three previous home matches. My second Hull v Wolves betting tip for Friday night is for Under 2.5 goals. It can be backed at 4/6 with Paddy Power.
There’s no goalscorers that stand out particularly for any anytime goalscorer tip, but as Steve Bruce has lavished praise on his youngster Adama Diomande, he seems the best option. He could make it two in two here. My third Hull v Wolves prediction is for Adama Diomande to score anytime. He is 9/5 with Betfair.
