Germany v Ukraine betting tips and predictions for their Euro 2016 Group C game taking place on Sunday 12th June, kick off time 8:00pm.
One of the tournament favourites Germany kick off their European Championships campaign against Ukraine at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille and I’ve picked out the best three betting tips in my betting preview for the Group C clash.
Germany vs Ukraine Predictions
Current World Cup holders Germany are looking to add another European Championship trophy to their collection as they prepare to take on 2012 Euro co-hosts Ukraine in Lille. They’ve gone into this tournament in inconsistent form, winning three and losing three of their last six games. They did top their qualifying group, despite losing twice, but the Germans haven’t looked the force they were two years ago after their phenomenal performances in Brazil.
Ukraine had a decent qualifying campaign, though finishing third in their group meant they had to overcome Slovenia in the play-offs to make it to France. They’re in excellent form, winning five of their last six games, and they’ll be hopeful they can get out of the group stages as they did four years ago.
Joachim Low has injury concerns going into this one. Mat Hummels will miss the opener and fellow defender Antonio Rudiger has been ruled out of the tournament after picking up an injury during training. Bastion Schweinsteiger is missing too so Sami Khadira and Toni Kroos should line up in midfield. Mario Gomez, recalled for this tournament, could start up top after a successful season with Besiktas.
Ukraine boss Mykhaylo Fomenko has no such injury concerns to deal with and is expected to start both Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka, the Ukraine danger men who are capable of causing Low’s men problems.
Germany are big favourites for this game despite heading into the tournament in relatively poor form, priced at 4/6. I’m inclined to go with the bookies in this one and go with the Germany win but I think they’ll concede too. Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko can get at their injury hit defence so for that reason my first Germany vs Ukraine betting tip is Germany to win and both teams to score. The best odds are with William Hill at 11/4.

Germany have goalscorers all over the pitch. The likes of Kroos, Thomas Muller, Mario Gotze and the recalled Gomez are all capable of bagging a few in this tournament. For this one, though, I’m going with Gomez to score anytime as my next Germany vs Ukraine prediction. He hit 26 goals in 33 games for Besiktas last season and has a point to prove on the international scene. He’s 6/4 with bet365 to get a goal here and it’s well worth taking.

My final Germany vs Ukraine betting tip is for there to be over 3.5 goals in the game. Germany’s last six games have seen a total of 21 goals and there’s been 17 goals in Ukraine’s last six, 11 in their last two. So a few goals in this I reckon, the best odds on over 3.5 goals are with Bet Victor who are offering 13/5.
