Spurs v Monaco – Over 2.5 goals

Both of Spurs’ home matches in the Europa League so far have featured three or more goals. Here, they face a side who have only failed to score twice all season and are bound to play their part in an entertaining affair. Monaco couldn’t quite keep a clean sheet at the week as they conceded a 95th minute consolation to Bastia. They were also involved in an amazing 3-3 draw in Marseille. A very rare scoreline in Ligue 1. They have plenty of goals in them, as do Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino has got his side playing some nice football and they sit 5th in the Premier League, hovering behind the leaders and with Harry Kane back and firing, this one could have plenty of goals.

 

Anderlecht v Qarabag – Anderlecht (-1) on the handicap

Two wins for Anderlecht in this Europa League campaign for the Belgian side and they look good to see off Qarabag and avenge the 1-0 defeat in Azerbaijan. This is on Belgian territory and it could be a fairly easy ride for Anderlecht. They beat Monaco 2-0 in France last time out and that was a very impressive win. They’ve kept plenty of clean sheets in the league this season including a 0-0 draw away at Racing Genk at the weekend. Qarabag have lost two of their last three away matches in their domestic league and are not the best on their travels.

 

St Etienne v Lazio – St Etienne (+1) Handicap

St Etienne are decent at home and they’re keeping up with the chasing pack behind runaway leaders PSG in Ligue 1. They could only draw 1-1 with Rennes at the weekend, but they had previously thumped Guingamp 3-0 here before that. They’ve only lost twice at home all season, once to in-form Nice back in late September and more recently to Marseille. Lazio have struggled on the road losing to Empoli, Sassuolo and Atalanta. They haven’t won since the 25th of October and have only won once in six games. They’ve performed well in this competition, but it was only a one goal deficit when they met in Italy. That scoreline could be reversed here.

 

Athletic Bilbao v AZ – Over 2.5 goals

It finished 2-1 to AZ when these two teams met in the Netherlands earlier in the competition. Bilbao score plenty of goals at home and they’re two Europa League matches have ended 3-1 and 5-1. There have been 17 goals in their home games in La Liga this season and they have been entertaining their fans along the way. A 0-0 draw against low scoring Malaga at the weekend wasn’t perfect, but they did play some of that match with ten men. AZ failed to score at home to ADO Den Haag, but they had plenty of chances to convert and they will be afforded plenty more here. There have been 30 goals in their matches since the end of September and there should be some more here.

 

Asteras Tripolis v Schalke – Schalke to score over 1.5 team goals

The German side have been in poor form over the last few months, but they are starting to bounce back and they won 3-1 at the weekend against Hannover. That’s four points from their last two games and it’s a sign that they’ve started to turn a corner. It was 4-0 when they met in Germany, it won’t be as convincing as that, but they should get a couple at least. Tripolis have lost their last two games and conceded five goals in those matches and may be vulnerable here.
