Weekend Football Accumulator Tips

Newcastle v West Ham – West Ham to win

We begin this week’s accumulator bet in the Premier League. Both of these clubs came from behind in midweek to achieve positive results and will want to add to that with three points here. Newcastle have had a difficult campaign so far under Steve McClaren but they will take some much needed confidence from the way they fought back against Manchester United to secure a 3-3 draw. The Magpies looked dangerous going forward but will need to tighten up in defence if they want a similar result this weekend. West Ham have bounced back to form in recent weeks winning their last three matches and remaining unbeaten in their last eight. The return of talisman Dimitri Payet is huge for the Hammers and they look a danger to any side in the league at present. They have already five times on the road this season and I won’t be betting against them making it six on Saturday.

Bristol City v Middlesbrough – Middlesbrough to win

The Championship table was looking as tight as always a month ago but thanks to inconsistencies of others plus a five match winning streak over the festive period Middlesbrough have managed to build a six-point gap on second placed Derby. Their main asset is a defence that has conceded just 12 times all season which is less than a goal in every two games. They are unbeaten in nine matches and have not conceded once in that time. Bristol City on the other hand have a real fight on their hands to remain a Championship Club. After romping to the League One title last term they have failed to fully adapt to life at this higher level and have lost their last three and sit third from bottom. They also have the worst home record in the division with just two victories all season and I fully expect Middlesbrough to pile on more misery for the Robins.

MK Dons v Reading – Reading to win

MK Dons are another club who have struggled to adapt to life at Championship level since last season’s promotion from League One. After winning their first two matches of the campaign they have since recorded just two victories in 22 matches. They have scored just 21 goals all season which is the joint lowest in the division. They lost 5-0 at home to Burnley on Tuesday and looked totally outclassed and will need to improve to avoid the same on Saturday. Reading have had an inconsistent season so far and are in danger of slipping to far behind the play-off shake up. They managed to get a well-deserved draw on Tuesday against promotion chasing Derby County and will be hoping to build on that on Saturday against the lowly Don’s. If the Royals are to make a charge for the top six, then it needs to start here and I believe they can get the win that they require.

Wigan v Chesterfield – Wigan to win

We continue this week’s accumulator tip in League One. Wigan looked like moving within three points of the automatic promotion places on Tuesday when they led Sheffield United 3-0. However, the Blades fought back in the second half to claim a draw and frustrate everyone associated with Wigan. The Latics will want to put that right this weekend and Chesterfield may well feel the backlash. Chesterfield had been on a shocking run until recently. They had lost nine on the bounce but found some form again with a 7-1 thrashing of Shrewsbury. New manager Danny Wilson has got his team playing well again but they may not have enough to maintain a Wigan side who look well equipped to achieve promotion back to the Championship. This should be an entertaining match but Wigan’s extra class should see them through.

Plymouth v Stevenage – Plymouth to win

We finish this weekend football accumulator bet with League Two pace setters Plymouth. Argyle have been towards the top of the table all season and their connections will expect promotion after last seasons near miss. They lost against rivals Northampton in midweek and manager Derek Adams will be looking for a positive reaction from his players. Three points will keep them in top spot and strengthen their chances of winning the league. Stevenage have struggled this term under manager Teddy Sheringham and are too close to the relegation zone for comfort. They have failed to win in five matches and have recorded just two victories away from home all season. If Plymouth can bounce back to form they should have more than enough for struggling Stevenage and in turn, bring home our winning accumulator.
