Football Accumulator Tips 27/11/16
Hertha Berlin v Mainz – Hertha win
Hertha Berlin have the best home form in the league and have been very impressive in front of their own fans. Five wins from five including beating Frieburg, Schalke, Koln and Monchengladbach is not to be sniffed at and they’ve scored 11 goals in the process. They’ve also been efficient at the back with just two goals conceded so far. They will be pleased to be back at home after picking up just 1 point from their last two away games. They are very well-organised and as a result they find themselves just three points behind Bayern Munich. Mainz have had mixed form on the road and haven’t won in any of their last three games. They’ve had some difficult fixtures recently though losing to in-form Schalke and top of the table RB Leipzig. They have managed just a single goal in their last three away games and will be hoping for better this time around. Unfortunately, Hertha might be too strong and should take the points.
Angers v St Etienne – Draw
These two sides look quite well matched. St Etienne have been busy competing on two levels this season and it’s seen a drop in form which has seen them fall into mid-table. They have now qualified for the next stage of the Europa League though with a draw on Thursday night. They don’t often fare too well on the Sunday following the competition and could struggle against a decent and well-organised Angers side. The hosts have only lost once at home this season with no defeat in their last five. They have won three and drawn two and they should extend that run here. They’ve only conceded 4 goals here all season and following their spirited comeback last weekend, they should be confident. St Etienne have been average on the road this season but are often hard to beat. They’ve drawn three of the last five games on the road and have scored just five times. Low scoring draws are their speciality away from home and another one is likely to occur here.
Nice v Bastia – Nice win
Staying with Ligue 1 for our third selection. Nice have been struggling in the Europa League with another defeat to Schalke on Thursday night but they’ve been pretty trustworthy in the league. Barring a defeat to Caen you can usually rely on them to pick up the points at the Allianz Riviera. They beat St Etienne last weekend to cement their lead at the top of the table and silence any doubters. They’ve won 11 of the last 12 home matches and should continue that run here. They’ve conceded just 5 goals at home and just 9 all season. They are likely to keep it tight and give Bastia few opportunities. Bastia come here off the back of 5 straight away defeats and won’t be confident of ending that disastrous run. They’ve have only scored 10 goals in 13 games this season and lack confidence in the final third.
Tondela v Guimaraes – Guimaraes win
Off to Portugal for our fourth selection and Guimaraes should continue their fine away form here. Tondela sit bottom of the table and had a mini-resurgence which saw them draw with Sporting and beat Ferreira, but they slumped to another defeat against Moreirense recently. It’s been disappointing for the hosts and they’ll look to get back to winning ways here. Unfortunately, they’re facing one of the league’s form sides and could struggle. The visitors have won four of their five away games so far and conceded just three goals on the road all season. That loss came at 2nd place FC Porto and they have been imperious apart from that blip. Tondela failed to score at Estoril last time out and could remain rooted to the foot of the table with another loss here.
FK Rostov v Anzhi
This game kicks off at 13:30 UK time and comes from the Russian Premier League. We’re approaching the winter break in the Russian Premier League and it looks like Rostov are not going to replicate their heroics from last season. They have been very strong at home though winning 6 of their 7 matches here including each of their last five. They even saw off Bayern here in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. They should be far too strong for Anzhi who haven’t netted in their last three games picking up just a single point. They have won twice away from home this season, but those victories came at 3rd bottom Tomsk and 4th bottom Ural. This is a stiffer challenge and they were beaten 4-0 a couple of weeks ago by Lokomotiv Moscow. This could be a difficult afternoon for the away side.
