Football Accumulator Tips

Stoke to beat Watford

We start this week’s accumulator tip with improving Stoke City. The Potters had a difficult start to the campaign and failed to win in their first seven matches in all competitions. Since then Mark Hughes' men have won four in a row and conceded just one goal in that time. With the likes of Bojan and new signing Xherdan Shaqiri in their squad Stoke should be aiming for a top half finish this term and a win this Saturday will help them achieve that. Watford have had a good start to the season and are proving difficult to beat. The trouble for the Hornets is that they are not scoring enough goals. They have found the net just six times in nine games and haven't won in three. Both stats will need to improve if they want to avoid relegation and an immediate return to the Championship.

Derby to win away at Huddersfield

After a very average start to the season Derby are starting to look like serious promotion candidates. They failed to win in their opening five league matches, The Rams are now unbeaten in seven. Up until Tuesday's disappointing goalless draw at Blackburn they had won three in a row scoring nine in that time. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways this weekend to close in on the promotion places. Huddersfield are a club whose ambition this term must be to remain in the Championship. They also started the campaign poorly but have improved since to sit in mid table and four points above the relegation zone. The Terriors won last weekend for the first time in four matches and will be hoping to build on that but they may find that difficult against arguably the best squad in the league.

Peterborough to beat Doncaster

At the start of this season both of these clubs were hoping to be fighting it out for promotion and while that is still a possibility neither would have expected to be in the bottom half of the table at this stage of the campaign. Both clubs have already changed their manager this season and to add a little extra spice to this match Doncaster’s new manager is ex Posh boss Darren Ferguson. Doncaster have improved since his arrival but will find things tough this weekend against free scoring Peterborough. Posh are the second highest scorers in League One and have scored seven in their last two home matches. They also concede a few and manager Graham Westley will be hoping to improve that defence in the coming weeks. This could be a close one but I fancy Posh to just come out on top for my next accumulator selection.

Coventry to win away at Swindon

Since relegation from the Premier League in 2001 Coventry fans have rarely had anything positive to cheer about. In fact, in all that time their highest finishing position has been eighth in 2006. They find themselves in the dizzy heights of fourth at present and they look a good bet to stay around the promotion places. They have the second best defensive record in the league and haven't conceded a goal in four matches. Since losing last season’s play-off final things have gone from bad to worse for Swindon Town. The Robins have a small squad that has been decimated with injuries this term. They have gained just a single point in their last nine matches and parted company with manager Mark Cooper last weekend. Confidence is low and I don't see things improving for them on Saturday.

Oxford to beat Barnet

We finish this weekend’s accumulator with Oxford United. The U's have had a strong campaign so far this term and look like a good bet for promotion. They have lost just once all season and are unbeaten in seven league matches. Currently they occupy an automatic promotion position and they could go top of the table this weekend with another win. Their opponents Barnet have struggled on the road this season. Up until last weekend the Bee's hadn't gained a single point away from home. That is something that they will need to improve on if they want to avoid a relegation battle. Unfortunately, they come up against one of the best teams in the league and I fully expect Oxford to take all three points and bring home our winning accumulator.
