Over 2.5 Goals Accumulator Tips
Sheffield Wednesday v Brentford Betting Tip
Over 2.5 goals
Brentford haven’t had a good run of it recently and Dean Smith will want to turn things around as quickly as possible. Four defeats in six has waved goodbye to any faint play-off hopes, but more concerning is the fact they’ve only been able to keep two clean sheets since the start of November. It’s now 11 goals shipped in 6 league game and free-scoring Sheffield Wednesday will be licking their lips as the Bees visit Hillsborough. Three of Sheffield Wednesday’s last five home matches have featured three goals or more and they’ve scored at least twice in four out of those five matches here. Three of Brentford’s last four matches in the Championship have also featured three or more goals. Wednesday have only failed to score twice at home recently against sides at the top of the table such as Burnley, Derby and Hull. Gary Hooper has been in good goalscoring form and the Owls turned around a one goal deficit against Birmingham at the weekend and this game looks a good bet to contain goals for our Saturday acca bet.
Charlton v Cardiff Betting Tip
Over 2.5 goals
Charlton have improved under Jose Riga, but it still looks a mighty difficult task for the Belgian to keep the Addicks up. They do have goals in them, as they proved in their recent 4-1 win over fellow strugglers Rotherham, but they look terribly open at the back. They’ve conceded in each of their last 10 games and they come up against a Cardiff side who enjoy scoring goals. It came as a shock to most people that the Bluebirds failed to find the net against MK Dons, but a wonderful goalkeeping display by David Martin and with luck evading them, they could only take a point from that game. Three of Cardiff’s last four away matches have finished with over 2.5 goals and I think this one could go the same way. With Igor Vetokele back in the side and back amongst the goals, Charlton will pose a danger to Russell Slade’s side and should at least get on the scoresheet here.
Rochdale v Millwall Betting Tip
Over 2.5 goals
These two sides have been scoring goal a-plenty in League One in recent weeks with Millwall scoring eight goals in their last four away matches. They’ve been better away from the Den scoring 29 of their 47 goals on the road and winning 53% of their games whilst travelling. Rochdale have always been renowned as a decent home side and they proved this by beating Burton here at Spotland recently by two goals to one. They’ve scored nine goals in their last four home matches and have shown their defensive vulnerabilities in recent away defeats to Crewe (2-0) and Barnsley (6-0). Millwall have a stronger backline, but have only kept one clean sheet in their last six matches and that was surprisingly at Walsall (where they hit three themselves)
York v Notts County Betting Tip
Over 2.5 goals
York have picked up in recent weeks under Jackie McNamara and have managed to string a few results together as they try and preserve their League Two status. The Minstermen have won two of their last four home matches over Stevenage and Morecambe, both by the scoreline 2-1. They still have work to do though as they’ve conceded in each of their last 22 matches and with Notts County improving under new manager Jamie Fullerton, they almost certainly won’t be ending that run here. Notts County may have kept two clean sheets recently, but they’ve still conceded 46 goals this campaign and that should give York and McNamara hope that they can get on the scoresheet here. County have scored a goal in 85% of their away games this season and with five of their last eight games going over 2.5, this one could feature a few goals.
Morecambe v Oxford Betting Tip
Over 2.5 goals
Oxford are a better away side and they proved that theory by a blowing the lead twice against Mansfield at the Kassam on Tuesday. On the road, they have won 57% of their games, including their last two. Morecambe are a very open side, who have been involved in some high scoring affairs recently, particularly here which is great for our football accumulator this weekend. Three 2-1’s and a 1-1 draw in their last four home matches have excited the fans, but not impressed Jim Bentley who has been under pressure. Bentley is working on a shoestring budget and if he can plug the holes in the Morecambe defence, his side score enough goals to work their way up the table. Morecambe sit 16th in the table but are the second highest scorers in the league, so they have plenty of goals in them.
