Derby vs Leeds predictions and football betting tips for this weekend’s 3pm kick-off in the Championship and the best odds for our football tipsters’ bets.
Derby have a new/old manager in the shape of Steve McClaren who was appointed on Wednesday. He’s assisted by Chris Powell and they’re thrown immediately into action against Leeds. We’ve got the best three betting tips for the 3pm kick off.
Nigel Pearson was relieved of his duties after serving a suspension at the club. Nobody seems to really know what went on behind the scenes, but Pearson is gone and McClaren is back. It was a surprise to most when the Sky Sports News yellow ticker tape announced his arrival earlier in the week, but despite missing out on the play-offs, they played some good football under the former Middlesbrough manager. He has a big job on his hands as he looks to lift the side up the table and steer them clear of the relegation zone. They currently sit 20th after a disappointing start and his first task is to address the lack of goals. 6 goals in 11 is a very poor return considering the amount of firepower they have in their squad. Leeds have improved remarkably in the last few weeks and Garry Monk has bought himself some extra time in the Elland Road hotseat. They’ve moved up to 11th with four wins from their last five and are finally looking secure at the back with the addition of Pontus Jansson.
Derby vs Leeds Predictions
I don’t think McClaren will have an instant impact on his side. He isn’t the kind of coach that will shake things up immediately and there is plenty of continuity at the club with Chris Powell remaining in his position. I think it might be another point here for the Rams. Leeds are difficult to beat these days and are not to be taken lightly so the draw is my first Derby vs Leeds betting tip.

Both Teams to Score Tips
Despite their lack of goals this season, new signing Matej Vydra has started to find the back of the net. Four of Derby’s six goals this season have come in the last couple of games and Leeds always tend to get onto the scoresheet so my second Derby vs Leeds prediction is for both teams to score.

Anytime Goalscorer Tips
I’ll take Vydra to continue his fine form in recent games and complete our Championship predictions for Derby vs Leeds. He is a natural goalscorer and always benefits from a run in the side.

Derby vs Leeds Team News
As is often the case, a new manager is likely to make changes to the last team chosen by Chris Powell. Richard Keogh is one of the players who regularly featured under McClaren and he is likely to continue his partnership at the back with Alex Pearce.
Darren Bent said he was delighted to be working with McClaren again, but he may have to settle for a place on the bench alongside Nick Blackman.
George Thorne is a long term absentee.
Gaetano Berardi will play 90 minutes for the Under23s and then will be back in contention. It’s likely to be another 5-7 days before he’s available for selection again. He’s going to struggle to break into the side with the defence playing so well.
Hadi Sacko has this week said he’d like to add more goals to his game and he could get the chance here. It’s unlikely Monk will make too many changes from the side which beat Barnsley. Stuart Dallas is amongst the players returning from International Duty and looks to be carrying an injury. Barring any late niggles, Eunan O’Kane, Kalvin Phillips and Pablo Hernandez are all likely to start.
Liam Bridcutt is still out injured.
Derby vs Leeds Head to Head
There have been plenty of goals in the last two meetings between these sides. They played out a 2-2 at Elland Road when they last met. It needed a Tom Ince goal to rescue a point for the Rams.
Leeds have won two out of the last four meetings between these sides with Derby’s only win in the last five meetings coming in December 2014.
Derby vs Leeds Betting Odds
Leeds are a huge price for this game considering their recent form. They can be backed at around 4/1 with some bookmakers going as big as 17/4.
Derby are heavily favoured under their new boss with the price around 4/5. The draw can be backed at 13/5.
Darren Bent is the favourite in the goalscoring market, but he isn’t guaranteed to start. There ae 6 players at the top of the market before we get to the first Leeds player which is Chris Wood.
