Cardiff v Brighton betting tips and Championship predictions for this weekend’s lunchtime kick-off on Saturday 20th February 2016.
The Saturday lunchtime kick off sees Brighton travel to South Wales to face Cardiff. Here’s our best football bets for the match which kicks off at 12:30pm.
Cardiff vs Brighton Predictions
Both of these sides are proving very hard to beat of late, but Brighton particularly picked up an impressive point at Hull in midweek, which can be considered an outstanding result, especially when Middlesbrough and Burnley both went there and got hit for three by Steve Bruce’s men.
There’s a resilience about Brighton that briefly deserted them mid-season, but the early season steel is back and it’s hard to see them losing here.
Cardiff are still in the hunt for the Play-Off place, although they must rediscover their goalscoring touch in order to realistically poach a Top 6 place. It’s highly competitive at the top end of the Championship and drawing 0-0 with relegation strugglers won’t cut the mustard come the end of the season.
In fact, Cardiff have only lost once in the last eight and that was a 2-0 defeat at Hull and they look solid at the back, but perhaps lacking a killer instinct. Potency flickered on and off in January with a 3-1 victory over Wolves and winning a five goal thriller with Huddersfield, but recently, the flair has dried up.
Although Joe Mason was far from prolific, his departure for Wolves may have disrupted Russell Slade’s best laid plans. With neither Eoin Doyle nor Alex Revell working out and Mason heading for pastures new, Cardiff have found it hard to unearth a regular goalscorer. There’s plenty of creativity in midfield with Peter Whittingham, Anthony Pilkington and Craig Noone, but up front, they lack a cutting edge.
Charlton have conceded 56 goals this season, but the Bluebirds couldn’t find a way round them. Admittedly, Jose Riga has improved them slightly, but it was a still a disappointing result for the South Wales side.
Sammi Ameobi is missing for this one after being ludicrously sent off for scoring after the whistle had gone, but it could see the return of Lex Immers, who might just add a bit of bite.
I think we can now consider Brighton realistic title contenders and they are well positioned if Hull or Middlesbrough slip up (the latter look a little wobbly).
It’s really hard to see past the draw here for my football tips on who will win the match. Cardiff have drawn 13 of their 31 games this season, which the highest in the league. Brighton are not far behind with 12 to their name and 10 of those coming away from home.
The first of my Cardiff v Brighton predictions is for the match to end a Draw. It can be backed at 23/10 with Betfred which are the best odds.

The Unders is a little short in the latest betting odds, but it’s easy to see why. Brighton have scored just once in their last four away matches and whilst goals have been flowing at home, on their travels, they’ve been in short supply. Cardiff failing to score against MK Dons and Charlton is a concern and with creative hub Craig Noone likely to be absent for this one, they could struggle once again. For a bigger price, we’ll take a chance with the first half being goalless.
The second of my Cardiff vs Brighton predictions is for half-time score to be 0-0. It can be backed at 6/4 with William Hill.

Although picking a goalscorer is difficult for this one. I’ve got to look towards the away side’s squad, which looks significantly more dangerous. Tomer Hemed is back from injury and he could be the man to get a goal for my anytime scorer tip in the Championship. The Israeli started the season in flying form, but dropped off as his side drifted into a mid-season slump. He scored at the weekend and I think he is most likely to do it again here.
The third of my Cardiff vs Brighton betting tips is for Tomer Hemed to score anytime. He is 45/17 with 888 Sport.
