Burton vs Oldham Betting Tips, Predictions and Preview

Burton Albion v Oldham Athletic predictions and football betting tips for Saturday’s League One lunch-time kick-off live on Sky Sports.

Burton continue their stride towards the Championship and they welcome a team who are battling to preserve their status in League One. We have the best bets for the match.

Burton v Oldham Betting Tips

Burton continue their march up the leagues and unbelievably look like they could be facing Championship opposition next season. They’ve procured 40 points at home this season which is the second best record in the league.

They are a well-run club and continued to pick savvy managers to lead the charge. Former boss Nigel Clough is back at the helm and he has had to tweak very little following the departure of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

After a slight wobble, Burton have won their last two games, scoring six times and beating a battling Fleetwood and overcoming a tricky tie at Port Vale.

Oldham have improved of late, but they’ve lost two of the last three and John Sheridan can’t afford to let his side take their foot off the pedal.

The Latics got a crucial victory over Blackpool recently, but the issue of goalscoring remains. They don’t score enough. They are the second lowest scorers with just 36 for the season. They have a slightly better record defensively, but against a side who only conceded 31 goals all season, they might struggle to break through.

The Brewers scraped a 1-0 win at Boundary Park earlier in the season, but back the Pirelli, they should be able to take advantage.

Lukas Akins as praised his striker partner Stuart Beavon this week and says he loves playing alongside him. Beavon isn’t the most prolific, but plays a vital role as Burton move forward. He links the midfield and Akins and is part of the success of Burton this season.

Defender Tom Flanagan has also come out and said clean sheets are the main focus for Burton at the moment. They’ve had plenty of them this season, but the 4-0 victory against Port Vale was their first in four and it will come as a relief for the meanest defence in the league.

Although Oldham have become more of a solid outfit since the arrival of Sheridan, they’re going to find it hard to keep out a potent Burton.

My first Burton v Oldham betting tip is for Burton to win. They can be backed at 4/5 with William Hill.

Lack of goals could cost Oldham this season and selling Danny Philliskirk to rivals Blackpool was an odd move. Whilst the frontman was far from prolific, he did always have a goal or two in him. I think Burton’s watertight defence can keep Oldham at bay here.

My second Burton v Oldham betting tip is for Both Teams to Score? No. It can be backed at 4/6 with Coral.

Stuart Beavon is the favourite in the goalscoring market, but I’d prefer to take his strike partner at a slightly larger price. Lukas Akins has scored three in the last six games in League One.

My third Burton v Oldham betting tip is for Lukas Akins to score anytime. He is 12/5 with Bet Victor.
