Brighton vs Reading Betting Tips
Brighton will be heartened to see their promotion rivals slipping up at the weekend as they were both denied three points by relegation strugglers. Middlesbrough appear to be imploding and their limp displays at Rotherham and Charlton will give heart to Seagulls fans. Hull could only manage a point against MK Dons, but the men from Humberside are also in action on Tuesday and it will be a tussle between the two for the coveted second spot.
They’ve been in cracking form here recently and after the mid-season slump, they’ve bounced back in style. A point against play-off hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday wasn’t a bad result, but they’ve previously beaten Brentford, Bolton and Leeds and they should be able to see off Reading.
The Royals crashed out of the FA Cup to Crystal Palace on Friday night and without being harsh, it looks like their season is likely to simply fizzle out. They currently sit in 15th and although they’ve been hard to beat recently, they’ve won just twice in eight and just a single away game in four.
There are positives for Reading, they hit four against struggling Charlton and showed tremendous spirit after being pegged back late on but they are conceding too many. It’s eight goals shipped in three league games against sides positioned 18th, 20th and 23rd.
Brighton sit 4th and are the 5th highest scorers in the league. They’ve also only conceded 34 goals all season and Hughton has been lavishing praise on Connor Goldson this week, who has made the step up to the Championship with ease. Just two goals have been conceded in their last four home matches and they’ve won 12 times at the AMEX.
If Brighton fail to achieve promotion this season, it’s their away form which has been a little inconsistent. All three home defeats came within a 12 day period at the end of December where they were defeated by Middlesbrough, Wolves and Ipswich. They were going through an inconsistent period at that point, but nobody has beaten them here since.
It’s hard to see Reading getting dragged into a relegation battle, but McDermott started with Simon Cox up front and the former Nottingham Forest man gets through plenty of work, but doesn’t score often enough. Many Royals fans are calling for McDermott to start preparing for the 2016/17 Championship campaign and recalling Dominic Samuel from his successful loan spell at Gillingham may be one option.
I don’t think they’ll have enough to get past a Brighton side full of confidence at home for tonight’s football tips. They rarely lose and I think they will be buoyed by their main rivals slipping up at the weekend.

They’ve kept plenty of clean sheets here recently and haven’t conceded a goal in the Championship in the last 360 minutes of football. I think they have enough defensive strength to keep Reading out.
