Both Teams to Score Tips 8th December
Osmanlispor v FC Zurich
Awe start with an early kick-off in a very competitive Group L between Osmanlispor and Zurich. There is plenty at stake here with all four sides being able to qualify. The Turkish side surprisingly top the group with 7 points and have netted 8 times so far. Since beating Steaua Bucharest on the opening matchday, they’ve scored and conceded in the subsequent four matches. They’ve scored In their last 16 matches in all competitions at home, a run which stretches back to April. They’ve also scored twice in each of their last three home games. FC Zurich are winning on a weekly basis in the second tier of Swiss football and will be confident that they can get something here. They’ve acquired just one point from their previous two away matches in the competition, but have scored in both. They’ve netted in 13 consecutive away matches in all competitions and are confident going forward. They beat Osmanlispor 2-1 on Matchday 2 and a similar result this time around would be perfect.
Qarabag v Fiorentina
Another game in which both sides need the points. Fiorentina are not quite over the line after losing 3-2 to PAOK last time out. A match which they should have won having hit the woodwork twice and having a goal chalked off. They netted twice against Palermo at the weekend with Khouma Babacar netting the winner, the striker is likely to start here. Paolo Sousa is under pressure in Florence and the Viola cannot afford to mess this up. Travelling to Azerbaijan in this competition is never easy and Qarabag need to win secure their qualification. A draw could be enough, but they would be relying on PAOK dropping points – a dangerous game. They will have to attack from the beginning as they look to secure their place in the knock-out rounds. They’ve hit two in each of their previous matches at home and will fancy their chances of exploiting a leaky Fiorentina backline.
Braga v Shakhtar
The visitors are already through, comfortably. They may opt to rest a few players here and that may cause a re-shuffle at the back. Shakhtar have been scoring goals for fun in this competition with 17 notched in just 5 games. In their last away game, they hit 5 at Gent, but also conceded 3. 14 of those 17 goals have arrived since Matchday 2 and more will hopefully be on the cards here. Braga are being chased by the Belgian side for second place and will be desperate to collect maximum points. They’ve scored and conceded in each of their last three games in this group and will need to attack from the beginning. The Portuguese side failed to net in Ukraine, but will be more confident of doing so on their own patch. Shakhtar have kept once clean sheet from their two away games so far, but it came against the low scoring Konyaspor, this will be much trickier.
Sassuolo v Genk
Our final selection sees Sassuolo and Genk battle it out on the final Matchday. There isn’t a huge amount riding on this match with the Belgians already qualified alongside Athletic Bilbao, but Sassuolo can salvage some pride by finishing third. With little pressure, it might open up the game and there should be chances. Sassuolo got back to winning ways here at the weekend with a convincing 3-0 win over Empoli. The Corsicans had their chances and hit the woodwork, so Genk will fancy their chances of getting of getting on the scoresheet. Their two away matches in the group so far have finished 3-2 and 5-3 and this one is likely to be just as open. The Italians have kept just a single clean sheet in their 5 group matches which came all the way back at the start of September.
Both Teams to Score 4-fold
- Osmanlispor v FC Zurich
- Qarabag v Fiorentina
- Braga v Shakhtar
