Sociedad ruined many a midweek accumulator as they took the lead and then blew it against bottom club Getafe. Anyone who can conceded twice to La Liga’s horrendously out of form side is vulnerable defensively and I think a decent Villareal side can capitalise on that. Sociedad have enough firepower themselves to get onto the scoresheet. 22 of their 42 goals this season have been on the road and they recently hit two in Seville. Villareal have kept clean sheets at home this season, plenty of them, but the only one they’ve managed recently was against bottom club Getafe and they’ve now conceded 13 goals in 7 matches in La Liga. I think they will concede here against a side looking to bounce back from their midweek embarrassment.

 

Sevilla v Real Betis

Reaching the Europa League Semi Finals has masked a poor season for Sevilla. They currently sit 7th in La Liga and have so far failed to win on the road all campaign. Luckily, they’re at home here, but they’ve only picked up a single point from their last two games here. They haven’t kept a clean sheet in seven now, so they’re struggling at the back. 11 goals conceded in their last five will give Betis plenty of hope coming into this one. The visitors have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three away games and although their away record is poor, they often register. 16 of their 31 goals this season have been on the road and it seems likely they will give Sevilla some problems.

Frankfurt v Mainz

Over to the Bundesliga for their second game of the day. Frankfurt don’t score bags of goals, but they should be able to find the net against a side who have been unable to keep a clean sheet in five consecutive away matches. Mainz have had some difficult games on the road, but they’ve been unable to keep teams out. Frankfurt have scored 19 of their 29 goals at home this season and with the matches running out, they need the points and goals to catch 3rd bottom Werder Bremen, who are four points ahead of them. Guimaraes v Estoril

In the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Guimaraes are just one of a number of teams who are dreadfully out of form. They’re quite hard to beat at home though and drew 1-1 last time out. They went down to 10 men early against Maritimo away from home last weekend, so their lack of goals can be blamed on their indiscipline. 18 of their 38 goals have been at home this season and they did keep clean sheets against Sporting, but failed to score against Pacos De Ferreira. They can’t seem to keep the lower ranked teams out though and Estoril qualify for that category. They’ve kept just two clean sheets at home all season and they were against Sporting and FC Porto. Music to Estoril’s ears, who have scored in their last nine consecutive matches and their last five away.
