Football Accumulator Tips 30/10/16
Nice v Nantes – Nice win
Nice won for us last weekend and we continue to back the leaders for this accumulator tip. They are still a decent price despite being at home, unbeaten and facing a side who were beaten last weekend. Lucien Favre’s side have gone throughout the season in an enterprising style and they lead the way in Ligue 1. They are scoring goals and sharing them around the team, but crucially, they remain tight at the back. They’ve been decent at the Allianz Riveriera this season and Mario Balotelli usually plays some part in the home matches. They’ve conceded just 7 goals all season and have won their last six consecutive games in all competitions. Nantes sit in 14th and haven’t been bad away from home losing just twice. One of their away victories came against rock bottom Lorient though and this is a step up. They lost last weekend at home to a Rennes side who don’t travel well and that should trigger alarm bells. PSG and Monaco will have both played by the time this game kicks off and will be breathing down the neck of the leaders giving them even more incentive to collect three points here.
Rennes v Metz – Rennes win
Sticking with Ligue 1 for our second selection, this game gets underway shortly after Nice have finished. Rennes have been imperious at home this season; they have won four and drawn one of their five matches here so far. They sit 6th in the table and look a solid bet here. They beat Nantes last week in their second derby match inside a week and look in good shape. Until last Saturday, they hadn’t been very effective on the road, but they put that right. They are unbeaten in three and should get the better of newly promoted Metz. The visitors needed a penalty shoot-out to overcome third tier outfit Paris FC in the Coupe De La Ligue and they could struggle here. They have lost their last three games and conceded four goals at home to Nice last weekend. I’m banking of Christian Gourcuff’s side’s home form to get them through here.
Empoli v AS Roma – Roma win
A relatively short price from Serie A this one. Roma have been in flying form and aren’t far behind Juventus in the table. They are the entertainers of the league and have been involved in many high scoring affairs. They came from 1-0 down to Sassuolo in midweek to emerge 3-1 winners. Edin Dzeko is in fine form and should be able to find holes in the Empoli defence. The hosts just don’t score. They haven’t found the net in 7 games and even the veteran Massimo Maccarone is looking clueless in the final third. They lost 2-0 at Napoli in midweek and they are firmly in a relegation scrap. They don’t concede loads of goals, but two would be enough for Roma. The visitors have beaten Napoli and Sassuolo by the same 3-1 scoreline on their travels recently and should find this a fairly straightforward task.
Lazio v Sassuolo – Lazio win
Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio are in very good form. They handsomely won at home in midweek against Cagliari and whilst the scoreline might not be as convincing this time around, they should have enough to get the job done. They are scoring plenty of goals with six notched inside the last seven days. They currently sit 5th, just a point behind AC Milan and they look real contenders for a European spot. They are helped by not being in the Europa League this season and they can focus on their domestic form. They have won three of their last five games, drawing the other two whilst their only defeat here came early in the season as they were narrowly beaten by leaders Juventus. Sassuolo haven’t impressed on the road with just a solitary victory to their name. They found Roma too hot to handle in midweek and have previously conceded four goals in AC Milan on their travels.
FC Utrecht v NEC Nijmegen – Utrecht win
FC Utrecht got off to a dreadful start in the Eredivisie, but they’ve improved significantly and look a real threat. They are back at home and I fancy them to make four consecutive victories. With Sebastian Haller in the side they are always a threat but it took a 5-1 battering from Groningen to spark them into life. Since then, they’ve not conceded a goal and have netted 6 times in three competitive games. The visitors NEC played in their derby match against Vitesse last weekend picked up a 1-1 draw at home. They looked a little toothless though and were lucky that the keeper was unsighted for their scrappy 91st minute equaliser. Defensively they aren’t bad, but I don’t think they are going to score enough to catapult them to the play-offs this season. This could be a low scoring affair, but it should go the way of an ever improving home side.
