Friday’s Accumulator Tips
Monchengladbach v Frankfurt – Draw
Starting in the Bundesliga with our first selection for Friday night. Monchengladbach are a complete Jekyll and Hyde side when it comes to home/away form. They are useless on the road and struggle to pick up points on their travels. They’ve collected just a single draw from their four away games so far this campaign. At home, they can usually be relied on. They’re unbeaten on their own patch with three wins and a draw so far. There’s a couple of concerns about backing them for the win though – they could only draw 0-0 with bottom club Hamburg in their previous home match and Frankfurt are in decent form coming into this. The visitors have lost just one of five and recently held Bayern to a 2-2 draw. They’ve won two and lost two of their away games so far, but have only conceded twice on their travels. They will be extremely hard to break down. They’ve only let in 8 goals so far and sit three places above today’s opponents. This won’t be easy for Gladbach.
Leganes v Real Sociedad – Draw
A second successive draw for our Friday accumulator. These two are complete opposites – Sociedad have been brilliant at home this season unbeaten in four and winning their last three. They stuffed Las Palmas 4-1 before going on to beat Alaves and Betis, but they don’t travel well. Three consecutive losses on the road haven’t helped them climb the table and they’ll be looking to put that right here. Leganes are not so good in front of their own fans, but improve when they’re on the road. They’ve won three of their five away matches but have picked up just a solitary point on their own patch. That came at the end of August when they frustrated Atletico Madrid. So poor home form vs poor away form. The draw seems the logical choice here.
FC Twente v Roda – FC Twente win
Twente may have been spared from expulsion from the Eredivisie in the summer, but they aren’t looking back this season. They’re in fine form coming into this and their home form this season has been brilliant. They may have lost their first game of the season here, but since then they’ve hit 11 goals in the next four and they should be able to find a way past Roda. The hosts are unbeaten in their last five matches and in good spirits for this Friday night match. They even picked up an away win in Sunday, which is a rarity. Roda have had a disappointing season so far, but have shown signs of life recently. Sadly for them, I don’t think it will be enough. They still sit bottom of the table with just 7 points although 4 of them have been acquired in the last couple of matches. They don’t like visiting here though and haven’t won here since 2007. They haven’t beaten Twente since 2011.
Orleans v Troyes – Troyes win
After being relegated from Ligue 1 with few points, Troyes were looking to bounce back this season, but it started rather slowly. It started with two defeats and a cup loss, but since then it’s gradually improved. They are now unbeaten in 6 and have 4 consecutive wins to their name. They’ve recently beaten Amiens, AC Ajaccio and Bourg-Perronas and are on a roll coming into this away match. Orleans are struggling since their promotion from the Nacional League. They haven’t scored in four Ligue 2 matches and have picked up just one point from a possible 15. They’ve won just once this season which was back in September. It’s hard to see them being the side to stop Troyes.
AC Ajaccio v Laval – AC Ajaccio win
Sticking with the same league for this 4th selection. AC Ajaccio are in decent form at home. They have the 4th best home form in the league with three wins in their last five and just one loss. They’ve beaten Bourg-Peronnas and a decent Reims outfit as well as drawing 1-1 with table topping Brest. They also beat Auxerre, who are struggling, but are above Laval in the table. They’ve conceded just five goals at home all season in six games and they should be able to collect another three points here. Laval sit bottom of the table and have lost their last two games, one of which was away at second bottom Auxerre. They should struggle to cope with a decent AC Ajaccio outfit and Denis Zanko has a big job on his hands with this Laval side.
