Football Accumulator Tips 23rd September
Real Betis v Malaga – Draw
We put our faith in Real Betis last Friday night and they let us down, drawing 2-2 with Granada. They’re back at home and this time face Malaga. Betis played their derby with Sevilla in midweek and were on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat. We’re backing them to take a point from this game. It’s a quick turnaround and there may be some tired legs on show. Betis have now taken 2 points from 2 games at home and they could make it a 3rd consecutive draw here. Malaga started the season with a point away from home before narrowly losing to Las Palmas. That isn’t a bad result, as few teams bring anything back from there. They haven’t won in 5 attempts away from home though and I think they would easily settle for a point here.
Red Star v Niort – Red Star win
The home side are on a decent run of 2 wins and 2 draws from their last 4 games. They picked up a point against a tough Strasbourg side and against an inconsistent Le Havre. They have turned around a poor start and will be expected to pick up all 3 points against the visitors Niort. They still don’t score enough goals with just 4 netted this season, but they are solid and have only conceded once in the last four games. In contrast, Niort have shipped 13 in their opening 8 games and sit at the bottom of the table. They have three draws in the last five which suggests they are gradually improving, but they are yet to pick up three points and they won’t be looking forward to this visit to the capital. The hosts finished 5th last season, so there is definitely more to come and they will want to keep their fine run going.
Bourg-Perronas v Laval – Bourg Perronas win
The home side have improved massively since the start of the season. It took them 7 games to pick up a win this season, but now they are unbeaten in four. They’ve hit 7 goals in those 4 games and although Laval are very hard to break down, I fancy the hosts to open up the game and see of their opponents. Laval have won just one of the last five and have lost three in that period. They’ve only scored 5 goals this season and that’s clearly where the problem lies. They’ve only conceded 8, but haven’t found the back of the net on their travels yet. Bourg are heading into this with plenty of confidence and I fancy their winning streak and subsequent climb up the table to continue.
Dundalk v Derry City – Draw
A second draw in tonight’s selections comes from the League of Ireland. Dundalk sit top of the table and drew 1-1 in midweek. They’ve only conceded 16 goals all season and have further Europa League commitments to look forward to. Derry City are unbeaten in 10 in the league, although come here off the back of 2 consecutive 0-0 draws. They are proving solid and hard to beat and these two sides could cancel each other out. They drew here in April when the sides played out a 1-1 draw and we could see a similar result this time around. Derry have only conceded 3 goals in 8 games in all competitions and although Dundalk have plenty of firepower, they could find it difficult to break through.
